Warranty question

I’ve got a service due at the end of September when the Mot will also be due.
However, after my accident in June, I sorned the car and had it put back into my garage.

Unfortunately it doesn’t look like I will be able to drive any time soon so it will miss both events - I’m happy enough to pay the BMW insured warranty. but suspect they will gripe about the missing service and mot

The car will have only covered 200 miles this year after its winter sorn.

Hopefully i will be able to drive again in springtime 2025

Have you considered calling your dealer and asking them to fetch it on trade plates? Pitch it as a great opportunity for them to show how caring they are.

Good idea…or just get it taxed for the month and get someone else to take it..

For MOT it doesnt need tax anyway. My Golf never has tax when it requires the MOT as that is the starting point so I can tax it again.

I think I would call BMW warranty, explain the situation (playing the 'sympathy card' to the max) and ask if they will effectively 'freeze' your warranty until the car can be put back on the road. Or, ask them to cancel the warranty with a view to starting it back up when the time comes.

It will only miss a service on timescale, which can be explained and justified to anyone who is interested.

Seems absolutely mental to be paying for a warranty that isn't covering anything while the car is off the road.

If you cancel and re-instate, you will get a new monthly payment plan which will be a lot more than the one Ronk currently has though unless the sympathy card works (It would help you are a former woman - converted twice and now a lesbian and from a minority group to achieve that  )

You can guarantee he’ll then find a coil spring has snapped while it was in the garage

I would put money on there being something in the T&Cs that it is not covered while SORNed, or not 'road legal', etc.

I suppose it’s a bit of forward planning in the event of me not being able tö drive again when I would have tö sell the car I suppose.
I don’t like to think of the scenario but being alone in room your mind can wander

The T&C say it must be serviced in accordance with BMW requirements . I’ve done 200 ish miles from a service last September
If my rehab goes as I hope, then mot and service will be April 2025
