Wanted Z4M Parts

Oohh..

I know the legs and bottom arms are bespoke to the M....

I think the front panels are too to take a bigger radiator in the apertures..

Engine mountings and alloy castings are S54 only, maybe E46 M3 may fit?

I think fan cooling pack is shared with 3.0..

If you pull it off danny my hat will be the first off to you , that's some task you have taken on
There is a lot of help , knowledge & parts available on here but i think time , patience & tenacity is what you are going to need

I know mate, it looked bad but i wanted it. Some say im stupid. i stood in a dark dimly lit warehouse in the arse end of nowhere and even had to walk outside to get my composure before handing over the cash. All i had in my head was the sound and im yet to hear her breath life. All my pals build cars from the R35 skylines, M6, M5, 1M, RS4 etc etc, you gotta be different. Yeah go buy one, thats too easy.

Does it run ?

Im told it does mate. Engine is currently having sump changed and inspected for damage. Sound daft but im an all or nothing man. i took the risk

You're a braver man than me danny, but get my respect for taking it on though. Hope you manage to get all the parts ok and that there are no hidden surprises along the way. Will be following this thread with interest :)

Not sure if you're interested, but our Trackday Z4MR has had a brake and suspension upgrade so all original parts are available which comprises of:
Front Calipers/Discs
Rear Calipers/Discs
Front Struts/Dampers/Springs
Rear Dampers/Springs
Car was purchased as an AUC from BMW with 44,000 miles.
Parts are in Fleet, Hampshire & would be on a cash on collection basis.
PM if these are any good for you & good luck with your rebuild.
Rich
ps not sure how much Joe would want for parts but I'll look back through forum to get an idea.

I don't mean to sound like an asshole but I would probably advise you to start selling the car for parts. If you are going to repair it using brand new parts from the dealer then you will probably realise that the project will cost you alot more then undamaged z4m. I understand that you've made the decision to repair the car and you will probably stick with it but sometimes you have to realise when you've made a mistake and try to make your money back. Based on how rare the parts are I'm confident that you could make profit selling the vehicle for parts and I know few people on this forum would be intrested.

Good luck with your project anyways. :driving:

Point taken but replacing a car will in effect give me a new car?

Most people which decide to buy damaged cars like my self are looking to save money and end up with a great looking car for fraction of the cost. It looks like you are more intressted in the actual project and process of repairing a rare car. If you have money to lose then you must be doing pretty well so good luck on your project and I'm sure you will end up with great looking car.

Just checked this page on realoem.com

http://www.realoem.com/bmw/showparts.do?model=BT92&mospid=49344&btnr=41_1479&hg=41&fg=10

It's exactly the same as my old 2.5si, so hopefully parts might be more common than you thought.

I did a very similar thing mate and wish you all the best with the project. Looking forward to seeing some progress pics!

First pic of the chassis repair should be on the weekend.

Thanx for the positive info lads. I know I need all the help I can get. Ill disclosure the steel and aluminium fabrication engineers who will have made the project possible at the end. Hobbies are no good without the right contacts

Purchases so far:

Drivers airbag
Strut brace
Passenger wing
Under trays
Power steering pulley
Power steering reservoir
Front panel from dealers!!!! Fucking stinger but can't be ponsing around project needs to keep moving
Wishbones, bushes, drop links, rack arms
Sump
Passenger flitch and chassis leg complete side of the car
So far it owes me £7636 including buying car. My estimate of 10 grand is quite realistic and will be very much a new car

In what condition is the engine and did you manage to get it running?

Engine looks in very good nick. Suspension component gone across the sump and not up. Was sold with the guarantee the engine run. The salvage yard broke Ferraris and lambo, so don't think they would of sold a fucked z4. Still a risk though. Car is currently being straightened and suspension rebuilt. Within the next couple of weeks the engine will be mounted. Fingers crossed

I salute you- good cars are written off and broken too easily now- a few years ago a forum member had his car written of after it slid into a ditch on a forum run- only needed a re spray ( barb wire in ditch/hedge) and a wing! That poor car probably got broken for parts!
