Wanted: Z4M 2006/7

Hi all - new to the board, Ex-S2000, Ex-Evo driver, looking to buy into Z4M-dom. Yes the coupe looks fantastic but it's got to be the roadster for me...

Specifically, a 2006 or 7, any colour but silver.

Any advice welcome - will keep an eye on the For Sale section here!

Hi, i had a S2000 and now have a 97 Coupe - more refined than the S2 and a better built car, but nothing competes with the Vtec! Good luck with your search and welcome

Thanks! Was thinking seriously about getting another S2000 and supercharging it, but TBH I am running out of patience with modified cars, and am leaning towards something fast out of the box...

I found a couple of nice S2k candidates but work is keeping me so busy, I don't even have the time to view them, let alone think about modding them :) Still at least it keeps the wolf from the door.

You know what... I've been thinking about this over the weekend, and decided to widen my search to include the Coupés. I think what I'm looking for is actually a 2-door sports car, rather than specifically a 2-door convertible. Plus I just love the roofline of the Coupé! So, having a lot of fun searching through a whole new set of ads. :)

Also qualifying down... red interior is definitely out (not my taste) and colours are down to Blue, Red, Silver-Grey, or Black. There are a fair few on the market between 16k and 18k which is encouraging.

i think the nav is perfectly fine.... as long as the software is kept updated... mines never sent me wrong ;-)
It may not look as glitzy as the newer systems and isnt as good as a seperate tom tom (not many are tho) but its very good imo!!
With the speed camera locations added its very useful imo!!

Nav or no Nav is becoming like Coupe or Roadster - it splits people down the middle :) If you don't want it, you should be able to find yourself an even better bargain as cars without are worth less.

In person, I have only ever seen Piano Black trim in an M outside of the standard Carbon Leather, the other options are very rare so wouldn't worry too much.I think the Extended Leather option is more common than wood trim in an M, and I've never seen one with the alu dash.

There are two Stereo upgrades; 'Business' is the standard one, 'Hifi Speaker System' is the middle one and top spec is the 'DSP/ Carver' set up. Disappointingly none of them are mind blowing as BMW stereos never are, but you have that engine anyway

There are also three blacks. Black Sapphire is by far the most common, but Ruby Black (red tint) and Carbon Black (blue tint) were also available at extra cost and much rarer.

Most cars have a few options on them, there weren't many to choose from anyway and there are very few base spec Ms out there, so you will find most of them are similar. Heated Seats, Bluetooth, Cruise, Extended Leather, Stereo Upgrades, Parking Sensors, Cruise Control and of course Sat Nav are the main ones to look out for.

Make sure it has FSH with the 1200 mile running in service present and correct, refer to the buyers guide and you should be fine, there are loads for sale at the moment and they are giving them away at current values. Enjoy!

Might go to have a look at this one...

Any views?

Just be careful that the particular Interlagos blue is a difficult colour to sell on, so getting it cheaper now means selling lower later on.

Not that the colour is not nice, but as it was the launch color, a large proportion of cars were delivered in that colour which seems to make it a more difficult one to shift. This will eventually iron out just like Sterling Grey was originally a difficult colour to sell as it was the launch colour for the general Z4 range.

That's strange, really, because I think it's a fantastic colour, but I think your logic makes sense!

Silver grey with black interior is my top choice right now. Then the blue or red. Then the black...

How hard is it to swap the interiors if I did end up with a red one inside? Anything I should know or "just the same as any car"?

You need to replace the seats and the door cards. If you replace like for like, it is a simple process of just swapping them over.

If you did end up with red, you will have a large market of volunteers to swap that for a black interior, you will have no problem in finding swap donors.

That was my thinking :)

And there seem to be a number of cars I like, aside from the interior, so it makes my life easier too...

You could actually make a small profit with that as well, as you would be able to sell the red for more then you would have to pay for black

Dont see why people put down Interlagos blue as hard to sell on/going to be worth less.
Lets face it even if it did affect resale value it aint going to be thousands is it????.
IMHO i think the M suits Interlagos and it is an M only colour.I looked at various colours of M and to be honest would have been happy with any of the colours available.
Buy what ever colour you like best and dont worry about how much its going to be worth in 3 years,by then it wont matter if its blue, silver or whatever.  :driving: :driving:

Not a case of putting a colour down, just stating a fact.

As I have been around in the Z world from the moment it was launched in the UK, I have seen most cars / price movements / desirable options etc through those 8 years. Based on that, I am happy to share that info with someone new in the market who may not know.

I am sure that Alistair may not have been aware that Red seats will fetch more then Black ones in the Z community, but providing that info might help the decision process.

In the end it is anyone's own choice, just like I got a green X5 whilst I know that a black X5 will be the more desirable one when it comes to selling mine.
