I had the exact same situation buying my Z4C last march.
The owner was abroad with work and his friend sold the car, I bought it from a different address than what was on the V5 & paid cash after travelling 5 hours from York to Southampton!
The owner had signed the V5 & his friend seemed very genuine, he showed me a photo of the owners passport, then pictures of him & the owner on his phone along with a letter from the owners stating his friend can sel the car on his behalf. I thought it was a bit dodgey at the time especially as I got the car at a steal of a price, but the V5 arrived with me & Ive had no problems since and its been 10 months.
I carried out a HPI check before looking & also the day before just to make sure no Stolen marker came flagged up. The HPI was clear both times

You should in an ideal world get 2 matching key fobs with buttons etc. Make sure they both lock/unlock the car and boot. Then a 3rd 'valet' key which is plastic and for emergencies; so 3 in total...

On the point of mileage, how much should I expect it to affect Z4C prices?
I'm currently looking at one that is a '57 plate, and has 30k on the clock. One website I looked at said 60k was the norm for this age of car so should I expect a significant uplift? (assuming all else being equal)

I have to say I love the computer and radio screens on the monitor, dont use the Sat Nav much..

Looks good value for the age / mileage on the face of it. Not sure if you would be phased by being the 4th owner in just 5/6 years. I was in the same boat with this and decided it didnt bother me.

However its actually 5.3 years old so I calculate its value at average mileage for the age and good condition at : £11,569.
Adjust for mileage and I say its worth : £11,844 if its in good mechanical condition and has good history to back it up.
So good value and worth a punt at £11k if you ask me..
