Wanted: Set of 17" Alloys

I'm after a set of 17" alloys to replace the rather weedy 16" on my Z4 at present. I'm not too fussy which design but I would rather not have to refurb them :)
Thanks, Paul.

Go for 18", 17s are not much of an upgrade from 16"

I just bought a set of elipsoid 107 (18") to replace my star spoke 102 16s

i know you don't want to refurb, but thought i'd still mention that i have a set of 103's @ £150. another £130 or so on a refurb and you can have new wheels. :)

Yes, I saw those, I may be tempted :) Is £130 to do the job yourself? When I looked up local alloy wheel repairers they were charging about £90 a wheel which put me off!

Paul,
Go for 18's , you will only regret it later.
Just sold my 18" 108's unfortunately....
Cheers.

The reason I was thinking about 17"s was I didn't want to make the ride too hard. I will be going for non runflats so I guess that should compensate. How much do 18"s gor for?

Paul,

Your looking at around £500 for a good set with tyres.
I have my 108's up for sale for about a month or so without any interest but another forum member is collecting them tomorrow.
I wouldn't be afraid of 18's as the ride is not that bad especially with non-RFT's.
My Zed has 19's, is lowered and is on non-RFT's and it's fine for me.
You will find most members will tell you to get 18's instead of 17's.
Good luck in your search.
CHEERS.

Nope... http://www.wheelrefurbishing.co.uk/
Don't let the cheap price put you off... several forum members speak highly of these guys (e.g. sixspeed).

I'll be taking mine to them when I need to change my tyres (soon).

If you did it yourself you'd be looking at around £5 per wheel.

I put a bid in on your wheels Peddy and as per usual I was outbid right at the end :( Let me know if they don't have them for whatever reason

Thanks for the advice mate, I'll keep an eye out on here for some 18"s

I am firmly in the 17 inch camp due mainly to potholes and desire for extra air, rubber and comfort.
I still remember last winter

I've always run 15s on my e36 with 60 profile tyres in winter and found them to be just fine.

I'm assuming that 16s on 55 profile will be the same on the Z.

Paul - are you still looking and would you still consider 17" wheels?
Blue,

have you got some for sale?if so,what are they and how much?(not jumping the queue, this would be after Paul) :P

I'm thinking of selling my summer wheels (I've got two identical sets so it seems like overkill!)

My wheels are as pictured here:-

I'll check with Adrian Flux tomorrow to make sure that it's feasible to change them before I go flogging them!

I would say 18's are ideal for the Z, however depending the wheels; generally the bigger the heavier (apart from lightweight aftermarket sets)

Heavier wheels will effect the performance and braking of your car... so if you have a 2.0L you wouldnt want to be putting big heavy 19's (or dare i say 20"!) which will zap the performance.

Paul - I'm good to go from the looks of things, as soon as I get a chance I'll properly inspect the tyres and try and get some decent pics taken so that you can judge the tread etc. The rears (Conti Sport Contact 2) are pretty decent, the fronts (Potenzas) are slightly lower in tread but still plenty of miles left on the front.

Paul - sorry I've just found out that one of my winter wheels is buckled (last time I buy a wheel that has 5 balance weights on it!) so I'm going to hang onto these for just a little longer until I know that I can drive ok on the buckled wheel, if I can't then I'm going to need one of these to swap tyres with in the winter. :(
