Wanted - Multi Function Steering Wheel.

Hi Phil, fixed metal badge on the passenger side next to the engine states October 2003 - i guess this is the build date?

I recieved the retro wire/loom today - not really keen to start fiddling as until im sure mine isnt wired already (does the pic ive posted above give any clue to whether its prewired or not?)

That's the build date badge I use.

Picture doesn't help because it shows the steering wheel end of the connections. There are no real changes to make there, just plug it in. The retrofit lead would go into the connector on the bottom of the slip ring ie the fixed part. You'd access it from memory by dropping the lower cowling off unplugging the connector and then seeing if the correct coloured wires were in pins 9 &10.

Easy, but then again I'm familiar with this stuff :)

Same here guys. My Zed was built November 2004 so should be absolutely fine for plug and play.

After calling around various places and getting a mixed bag of answers (from 'its going to cost you £250' to 'I'm not sure mate'), I've found an indy specialist back home that are willing to look at my MFSW and diagnose for free. If they can sort it I'll be A) Very Pleased and B) Slightly Richer as it will be a whole pile less sterlings than I've been quoted to date.

Also getting an oil service with them too for £120inc so all set.

Fingers crossed on the wheel! All happens next Tuesday...

Hi All,

I have a Multi Function Chrome Line Wheel if anyone is interested for a reasonable offer.

Just replaced it with a M Sport one.

If anyone is interested I can send pics details etc.

I have a '56 plate and have the same problem regarding the buttons not working. I figured it probably needs to be activated? Anyone know if the facelifts also need that little cable?

Okey-dokey; I'm back from the indy back home and after checking out my system diagnostics it turns out that I dont have the necessary software module to successfully run a MFSW. Its gonna mean a trip to a dealer for them to install the module and I should then be away (and probably a lot lighter in the wallet).

So - the lesson here is that not all pre-facelifts are plug and play MFSW. Hope this info helps some of you other non-button working Zedders out there.
