Wanted - Multi Function Steering Wheel.

Hi All,

I'm looking for a multifunction steering wheel for my 03 2.5. I've been looking on Fleabay and scouring the breakers over the past few weeks but to no avail.
I lost out on the last eBay auction about 3 weeks ago and there has been nothing since. :(

So come on Chaps and Chapesses, there must be somebody out there who has upgraded to an M sport wheel & has the old wheel sitting on top of the wardrobe just waiting for a new home!

If not it will have to be the upgrade kit from the stealers.

Thanks
Ian.

Thanks for the welcome Alan. I’ve been lurking on the forum big time since I became a proud owner about a month ago. Some of the posts on here make me glad I bought it, some of the posts cause SWMBO to hide the credit cards :(
Loving the car with the current outbreak of summer in the UK.

Navid…..please form an orderly queue… :D

Ian,got a quote of BMW (Coopers Part on-line shop)the Chrome line with multi-function buttons is,wait for it,£459.06 including VAT :?
the retrofit kit for the chrome line is £145 including VAT and the M Sport steering wheel (not sure if it has the MF or not) is £974.42 including VAT.

there was one on ebay few days ago but I didn't have money at the time to buy it unfortunately

just thought you might like to know :)

I was seriously considering the retrofit kit from Coopers when I also spotted the one on eBay. I emailed the seller and asked if he had a ‘buy it now’ price which he then added to the advert. Now I’m waiting for the postman :D
I've ordered the extra wiring kit that I need from Coopers (£6.74+postage) as my car is on an 03 plate.
Looks like I have a little job to do at the weekend with lots of thanks to Sideshowbob for his excellent posting in the “How To” section of the forum

guys, has anybody bought and installed this oem retrofit kit on their steering wheel?

Check out this thread http://www.z4-forum.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=2&t=8812&start=15, if you are not desperate for the chrome line finish you can get the fatter M steering wheel (well worth doing ) with Multi Function Buttons fitted for about £250, you will need to fit the Airbag from your existing wheel but the process is well documented on here and is not difficult to do.

Hope it gives you another avenue to explore.

Richard,

thanks for your comment.not in any sort of rush,I love the look of the M wheel but where do you get it from for £250?I have asked Cooper on-line and they quoted my nearly £950 for it.

this is what BMW is telling me if I want to get the M wheel:

"I can not confirm this as it isn't listed for your car. If you fit the wheel the airbag etc may not function correctly or you may have other issues. As BMW do not list a retrofit kit for this steering wheel we are not able to advise you."

A self protective measure due to the American style litigation culture we have gort ourselves into in the UK. It fits, as many others will tell you on this Forum, with no problems!

I got a price of Joe,£245 including the extra cable free P&P.

anybody fancy coming to help me with the installation as I haven't got a clue

by the way, changing the wheel to this one, wouldn't affect my warranty, would it?

Not sure on the warranty question, doubt they would even notice to be honest.

If you follow Sideshowbob's How To you'll be fine... biggest pain for me was getting the damn airbag off :x Would offer assistance but you're a little far from me! If you're really not comfortable, why not buy the wheel and bring it up to Ally's Scottish meet? :driving: Sure one of us can help you
