WANTED: 2.5si/3.0 roadster

Woo7dy - Haha! Sorry, I should have elaborated, "only by about 1k... rather than the 2.5k someone earlier in the thread mentioned for a similar car".
Wasn't necessarily suggesting it was 2.5k overpriced, only that that's what I managed to pick mine up for 5 months ago, good luck with the search though they are great cars and I'm sure you'll find the right one for you.

OP here! So, I'm still looking for the ideal Z4 for me, but around Christmas the entire market seemed to dry up. Did manage to test drive another 3.0 SE, but had very bad vibes off the seller and walked away as something just didn't feel right. Things are looking a bit better in the market again now.

I've spotted a 2004 3.0i SE in dark blue with just 34k miles nearby to me, but it's up for £7.7k. Having done a bit of research on whatcar/parkers, this would seem to be either bang on the money, or slightly overpriced. In my head however, this seems quite steep.

General thoughts? I'll be inspecting it for dried out hoses, rust and too long between services, but is there anything else I should look out for on such a low mileage example?

Depends on the options it's got...and SH etc...

If it has heated seats, Nav, cruise, Bluetooth, Xenons etc then it's a fairly good deal. As a comparison, here is mine which was similar to this one which I sold in July, so best time, for £7.5k:

Kinda wish I'd hung onto it now, they seem to go for good money when fully loaded with low miles...!

Enjoy the search :)

I am enjoying the search actually, despite it taking several months!

Thanks for the info. on yours. that does give an interesting yard stick. This one does have sat nav, bluetooth and xenons, but is missing heated seats. I don't like them, but I can see that in terms of resale value people would generally like to see them in roadsters.

I Keep having thoughts of upgrading to an Z4MC. I have a 2003 SE 3.0l in grey with 74k on the clock. With a service and MOT coming up this month. Sounds like it would have been what you were looking for! - Shame I still have finance outstanding on it :(.

Good luck with the search though

I looked at the second one in Hampstead. Photos looked good but in the flesh it had misaligned front bumper and a dent on the boot lid! Plus the garage looked a bit back street. It didn't feel right so I walked away!
That was £20 in fuel and 4 hours of my time wasted. But then you don't know until you see it .

My 2005 3.0i SE was £6400 at ~70k miles if that helps at all.

I guess it depends how specced up it is. Mine had parking sensors/satnav/Bluetooth for example.

Well I went to see it - but there was quite a build up of yellow gunk in the filler cap which it didn't look too smart. It didn't disappear after a spirited drive either. I think i'd be prepared to forgive that, as apparently head gaskets are incredibly rare to go on those engines, so could jsut be a product of the car not really being used properly at the moment.. but.. the owner hadn't bothered to service it for 3 years - she was just waiting for the light to come on.

So I walked, and the search continues :)
