WANTED: 2.5si/3.0 roadster

Hunting for a Z4 roadster with the initial objective of taking it on a road trip to Europe next year. Keen to own the car for a bit before I subject it to a few thousand miles. I test-drove a 2005 3.0 SE recently, but before I could make an offer the next day the guy decided not to sell it afterall!

Desired Engines: 2.5si or 3.0 (SE or Sport)
Desired Specs: Leather sports seats, Wind deflector, A/C
Age: Prefer face-lift model, but could be tempted for an older one if the price was right.
Mileage: Average mileage is fine, documented service history though please.

I'm based near Reading, but will happily travel up to 50 miles to view.
 
enjoy the search :) the Zeds are worth the effort . you may want to review your search area though ? 50 miles isn,t a lot :wink:
i usually restrict my search area to mainland uk :roll:

hi. I have a 06 facelift 3.0si in grey with every option apart from a hard top. so wind deflector, sat nav , cruise, parking sensors, heated black leather m sport seats. air bag isolation switch. dsp stereo etc etc 49000 miles full service history NEW ROOF MOTOR . the car is still under bmw warrenty that might suit you. I am near Swindon so almost on your doorstep. I was going to part ex it in a couple of weeks, I've been offered £10000 as a part ex so match it and it's yours. you are welcome to pop up and have a look.
 
Thanks Stug, pm sent. Perhaps not quite the right one for me.

Mr Wilks - search radius expanded.. 60 miles?! My only rationale for having a smaller radius search area is that if you travel over 100 miles to see a car, you have to be a very strong man to then say "no" to it!

420 mile round trip for my Z4, that's a viewing, then picking up 2 weeks later.

My VX220 was a single 300 mile round trip.
 
I'm on the hunt for a 2.5si/3.0si and i will travel anywhere if it's the perfect one. Think of it this way, you'll be grinning like a cheshire cat all the way back whiles driving! :D
 
Indeed, I travelled 440miles to get my Z from Gourock in scotland, well worth it as you get the long drive back to get to know the car :D
 
I travelled +200 mile round trip twice in a week to see two cars. Then had to go and pick up the one I picked about 5 days later. All in, I reckon I did 650 miles. But I've got a good 'un and am very happy. Nothing quite like that first trip home.
 
daren't think of the wasted miles & cash spent travelling to look at "mint" cars that are "unmarked " :x
would still make an offer if it was low enough to account for any failings though .
on the plus side i have , as already said by others had some memorable journeys home with a buzz every mile :) its kinda hard replicating that first drive ever again :(
best ever ? 275 miles to portsmouth for my aircooled 911 . would have happily carried on driving & driving . the only car ive ever owned that i would buy back :roll:
 
Might be useful posting a budget, unless that's not an object ? Otherwise, good luck with your search :thumbsup:

My budget is 6-9k with more money obviously being saved for cars that deserve it :)

For example, here's two that I may go and have a look at soon, the first of which I think is slightly optimistically priced.

Put it this way. Mine was newer, yes with double mileage but the same spec bar xenons and it was £2500 less with a years MOT and tax plus a material cover and steering wheel lock.

Yeah, agree on the first car. Very over-priced, should have been clearer myself :D
 
Have to admit the second does look nice. Always worth looking if they aren't too far.

Just bought a 2.5si Sport after being in the market for some time. That one looks well worth a visit! Like the grey leather on black combo, which I'm guessing is quite rare.
 
Thanks all - clearly the first is over-priced, but probably only by about 1k - it is very low mileage with FBMWSH afterall.

2nd I'll be visiting this week, as it's very fairly priced but is apparently in need of a service, so will be looking at the condition/history carefully.

Woo7dy - Haha! Sorry, I should have elaborated, "only by about 1k... rather than the 2.5k someone earlier in the thread mentioned for a similar car".

As it happens that seller is quite flexible on the price, but not quite enough to make it worth going to see yet - give it a week or two and they might change their mind, we had snow the other week afterall!
