Wales Meet 12/04/15 - South East Hooners Thread (04/04)

Looks alright, reasonably priced

If everyone else agrees then I'll work out when we should get there and look at booking some space. I've put numbers next to names in the first post based on what I know, seems to be 15 people right now but let me know if I've gotten it wrong.

I am coming with a +1; so that'll be 16 for lunch!

Plenty of parking there and easy to find. I can have lunch there tomorrow if you all want to chip in to get some advance food reviews 8)

Hahahaha... not! Just keep the receipt and tell your accountant it was a business meal :poke:

That is next week. Heck of a drive, but I have a standard aerial for sale so it is a worthwhile business trip 8)

Yet another thing that could've just been chucked in the boot

At Cobham, as with most services, everyone wants to park right in front of the food court so can I suggest we meet at the far end of the parking area - the section in front of the TravelLodge-type hotel (Days Inn?) as whenever I've stopped at Cobham, that area has been virtually empty

I usually park at the back / top end nearest the exit from the car park, same principle. But happy to park the other end

Oh, and I'll get that updated map to you this evening, and share it by PM with everyone coming.

OK, I'll convert it for TomTom and load it up - I guess you'd like to borrow the TomTom with the route on?

I would, if that's ok ? Do you also have one, just in case we get separated at all ? We shouldn't, but you never know... If anyone else wants the ITN file they can ask to have it sent to them.

It's OK, I'll print a paper copy - I can read maps

I'll also bring a set of walkie talkies - and we'll have phones too! So perhaps everyone can PM their numbers and we'll collate/distribute a list - I'm happy to do that

Does anyone know what time you will all be staying until at the end point? I'm in Preston for something I can't get out of on Saturday evening, and will be driving back home to Bath Sunday morning :|

Perhaps you should post this on the main meet thread - or PM Number 5 (Alan)

Just a thought but you can get an app called Zello for smartphones, it works like a walkie talkie. We could set up a chat room called 'south east hooners' and give that a go too?
Can you explain a bit more Stu? I've quoted it here as it's probably easier for everyone to comment than via lots of PMs

Checkout Waze for phones - you can get social GPS jiggery going on, ping each other routes (and therefore follow the same route). Enjoy!

Waze would work for those who use it. Just have to add everyone else and share the drives.

Also good for those meeting at petrol stations as can track where everyone is on their journey to the meeting points. Albeit the map location display isn't real time and normally has a slight delay on it.

Very good app though

I spam Bing on it with horn beeps whenever possible...

With Zello you just download the app to your smart phone and create a 'chat room' and all join.

Don't know about Waze, is it the same sort of thing as the above with more features?

Can Waze act like a Walkie-Talkie too?

IMO If everyone is going to have to get to grips with a new app by Saturday it needs to be something that's quick to learn & pretty foolproof to use
