i want a full refund

Quick quiz first …

- What was the NO content you were expecting …

Don't know the answer then no compensation as you would be the same as the other 99.9999% of the people who have no idea what this is about (i.e. they think it is CO2 or MPG related so costing money somehow ….) :P

This is my thinking as this relates to NOX, not CO2 which we all work with.

At least 482,000 cars are to be recalled in the US and the carmaker could face penalties of more than $18bn (£11bn) there alone

where does this money go?

I thought if I came on here the handbags would be out - Taz, the money goes into making even bigger, heavier & more uneconomical yank tanks for the Government....

I asked my supplying dealer today for a like for like spec replacement of my diesel with its equivalent petrol variant, citing some additional information I am keeping to myself.

Maybe Bing will get his wish & see me in a //M

and, on a lighter note:

I wouldn't say handbags Jem, but it's hardly surprising we are talking about it as this is a car forum.

What additional info do you have, and why won't you share?

I would expect that regulatory fines will go to the governments (as is usual). Personal recompense will come through class action lawsuits - which will take a lot longer to resolve.

Remember the banking fines? LIBOR? All go into the central pot. And its a lot, check out the lists here

And in the UK, a "victim" surcharge will be levied that will go anywhere except for victims ...

:) True. Last year, the treasury did allocate some to deserving causes - for example, around £35m went to service charities and organisations. But basically, the treasure decide where it goes, so some will be used to purchase good feeling towards the government of the day.

Can't see any VW* fine being used for motoring reasons (pothole repairs anyone?)

* other car makers *may* be complicit...

today i had a letter from VW. My car is affected by the emissions issue. I feel traumatised. Without a large finacial compensation payment i don't think i'll ever be able to rest properly
