VT2 upgrade kit started :-)

do you know how tempted i was earlier to leave work and fit this myself, but im not messing around with this kit, it needs proper setting up, proper alignment and more importantly proper dyno/software tuning, the guys at simpsons will have this kit fitted perfectly and setup perfectly, its what they do day in day out. i have to say it again though the quality of ess's work here is second to none.

Grrr.. Come on.. let me shadow you to Simpsons so I can get all excited too :D

Very jealous.. I wanna hear it start up for the first time..

lol @ andy!!! someones as excited as me i can see ;-) the car goes on monday the 12th unless simpson change the date due to a busy race schedule, im really hoping that doesnt happen as ive made all the arrangements to get their ect ect, as im only 6 days away im getting rather excited now :-) im even looking forward to the journey at 6.30am!! 6 days n its on it way!! not long now!!

Looks like a nice shiney piece of kit but.....

1. question, are there any markings on the compressor housing that would indicate who the manufacturer is?

2. I dont like the look of the compressor inlet plenum, too many sharp bends. Potential large delta P at the compressor inlet.... check (once the claibration is done) for oil leaks under idle or light load conditions from the bearing housing to the compressor housing.

the charger is made by vortech, its model number v3si, look a few pages back and youll see a link i posted with full details, this charger is hte business, silent operation, helical cut gears, own oil circuits hell it even has its own dip stick, if theirs leaks simpson will sort it!!

I hear they are launching a S/C kit for the M6 later this year. I have already emailed them about it: 625-800hp depending on stage!!

OP, I must say I cannot wait to read your writeup and hear the sound clip :driving:

No, they're not the same, and they have different part numbers:
  • M3 = 32311094678 (without phone prep)
  • M3 = 32316765803 (with phone prep)
  • Z4 = 32316758854 (without phone prep)
  • Z4 = 32316765395 (with phone prep)

However if it's just the guages you are getting to fit yourself—rather than them ready-fitted to an M3 upper cowling—then they should fit in the same position on the Z4M, as the shape only differs significantly at the back of the cowling.

m-five those particular gauages come attached to the m3 cowling, so maybe ill have to buy it and modify it to fit? or buy a spear z4m cowling and just have a go myself.

Not sure if anyone mentioned this but in this months "Performance BMW" magazine there is an article on a Z4M coupe with this exact same supercharger. He's had it up at 500bhp.
