Anyone got an opinion or an answer to the design of these tyres. I know they work because they're well reviewed here and elswhere. Probably gonna go for these as replacements for my runflats and was reading up on these a few weeks back. Big discussion here http://www.tyresmoke.net/forum/general-cars/105515-vredestein-sessanta-tyres.html.

They are a strange design and you would of thought that either the offside or nearside in this pic are incorrect but apparently not.

Still can't get my head around them. It's almost like having 2 different brand tyres on the same axle. If having the pointy bit of the main tread is correct by design on the n/s then you'd of thought that the o/s should have the pointy bit facing forward as well.
Someone on the tyresmoke thread was corresponding with someone at Vredestein re this but the thread fizzled out.

A couple of guys on here have commented that they're noisy. Any noisier than the Falkens?

Me neither and the pattern makes sense when they're fitted. The website mentions some of mythical maths behind the design but to be honest they just look cool.

I noticed a definite increase in noise after fitting mine. Although I did go from the stock 18" to CSL at the same time so the contact patch would be increased too.

Didnt find them any noisier than the runflats,on my z4;or on my wifes golf (turbo/supercharged),which prevsly had falkens on it.
I think the design is part guigarro design/part functional grip, etc?
they do work great, espcly in the we,and give decent lifespan/mileage. been my tyre choice for years

jimbo1958 - I'm a bit miffed - I composed a lengthy reply last night, hadn't signed in and lost it then ran out of time then read the very long tyresmoke thread...... anyway been using the Vreds for a couple of months and find them excellent - recent Skye forum trip was a pretty good test - some spirited driving in dry and some very wet and they performed fantastically - this was almost the 1st time I had really used them in wet. Personally haven't noticed any noise increase and of course the ride has improved and tramlining disappeared as others say - when compared with B'stone runflats.

Response from Vred is not so great but I think the asymmetric angle is important - once you keep looking at them on the car they seem to make more sense. Not sure I agree with the marketing/technical department reply confusion. In my experience a marketing dept reply would be better worded - coy PR is important - though reply didn't sound too technical either - maybe Vredestien need a better marketing/communication strategy !

I'm more inclined to accept the rationale than some of the comments on tyresmoke and several forum members here use them and I've not seen much negative comment. Hope this helps a little.

Off topic a little but is your SMG box behaving now ? still love mine and firmly beleive it's the futuure - albeit with more refinement.

Thanks for the replies guys.

Touch Wood........it's behaving. Like you, I love the SMG box. I'd contemplated getting a Nissan 350z some time ago but was put off by no Automatic option on UK cars. As my Z is my daily drive the SMG was a no brainer for me.
