Hi All

So i took stug's 3l 06 plate Z4 for a spin last weekend and thoroughly enjoyed it but keen to try back to back with an auto.

This specimen looks decent: http://bit.ly/13AH7EY

HPI checked and looks ok. Vendor has supplied VIN and no alarm bells against that or what seems to be low mileage. Will obviously check log book / MOT(s) and service book tomorrow. Will probably also call previous vendor (car craft...) to check mileage when they sold it as it does seem low.

Also plan on getting BMW to independently inspect. Anything else i should look out for as i'm off to take it for a test drive tomorrow (having given Aviva £40 odd quid for the privilige of 1 day test drive insurance... only have 3rd party on current policy with admiral and they wouldn't increase level of cover.... boo)

Thanks in advance :)

just a couple quick things I would look for:
-Check the window seals all around and have them up at motorway speeds if you can, that way you won't get surprised the first time you put the roof up several days later and find a leaky seal (don't ask).
-Check the stereo reads CDs correctly,
-look for broken rear springs,
-loose window washer bottles under the bonnet
-Check the little flappy door of the ashtray and cubby behind the armrest close and open properly
-Test the range of the key, low range (ie won't lock ulock from far away) means dead-ish battery which will likely need replacing
Good Luck! These are all minor things really, I love my Automatic and mine doesn't even have the flappy paddles

Looks nice buddy. Not sure what 'pro navigation' is tho? Certainly cant see any sat nav screen. Enjoy your drive :-)

Just a note on the milage, when I got mine moted today it now states the recorded milage of the last 5 mots...

Thanks for all the comments and sorry for tardiness in responding. Being worked into the ground at the moment!

To cut a long story short it was a total car crash. Wasn't taxed so couldn't take it for a test drive despite having forked out £40 odd quid for insurance for the day. In a bit of a state. Hadn't had a service stamp since 5k miles. Owned by a lovely couple of foreign students... who had basically trated it like crap.

Considered a very low ball offer then had second thoughts and walked away with steam curling out of my ears.

Hum ho. Off to try another auto on Weds (this time from a dealer to prevent any such silly soddery again) before decision time :)
