Andy.
Just got to say, fab report and review of the M40i.

I agree with all what you have said. And am currently thoroughly enjoying mine... :driving: :driving: :driving:

Test drive arranged for 21/03 and can't wait.
Great news

Just remember to make allowances for potential disappointment if it’s not a red one :poke:

Excellent news, sports + an essential if you really want it to dance, it’ll hold gear and redline without changing up, just like a manual  :driving:

Cheers Dave, glad you’re enjoying yours too. Love the frozen orange

Lengthy test drive completed this morning and a very happy boy. It's to be Thundernight with Ivory. Looking at various options and will hopefully have it nailed in the next few days. Thanks to everyone for your input and especially Argyll Andy.

Excellent choice ! The options I value the most on my car are the wind deflector (I think that is now standard), HUD, heated steering wheel (I drive roof down whenever practical), and HK sound system.

Cheers. I will probably go with the Shadow Line, Tech and Comfort Packs.

Colour choice/combo is very much what I’m considering

How did you find it compared to the Cayman?

As I expected I found the power delivery of the M40i smooth and clinical. I had a M140i before my first Cayman and the M40i is very similar. My last Cayman was manual and being 4 litre naturally aspirated it was a real hoot and one heck of an engine noise. Handling wise I didn't really push the zed as it was raining so difficult to compare.

Just to wrap this up. Order placed for Thundernight with Ivory. Shadowline, Tech and Comfort packs. All being well it should be at the dealers early May.

How exciting and a great spec ! Now it's just the waiting... :tumbleweed:

Out of interest, I ordered mine at the beginning of October and took delivery on 22 March. The car, once built, took four weeks to be transported to the dealer. I was originally given a timescale similar to yours though!

As they say time will tell but I hope they aren't spinning me a yarn.

Update from dealer. Car has gone into build and is tentatively showing as delivery the first week of May :driving:

What an excellent write up by Andy earlier in the thread which is worthy of being a ‘sticky’ for potential new owners to reference.

Nice tip on the Conti 7s being a great bit of VFM, although with my ‘driving Miss Daisy’ style of motoring, the OEM Michelins will probably last me well. Not much wear at almost 5000 miles in 2.5 years.

Car has landed at the dealers and collection arranged for Thursday. I will get some pics up, however I have asked them not to clean it as it is going straight to my detailers :driving:
