Evening

I took a chance on some eBay special dipped beam LED’s

They are ok, better than the oem candles!

However:

They didn’t fit the hole properly: the retaining clip mech did t fit them so I had to jury rig the retaining ring

They are a bit too long with the fan on the rear so I think sit on the rear light casing

They trigger a bulb warning light until lit- when it goes out

Does anyone have any better recommendations? I’ve tried nightbreakers and didn’t really see much improvement

Cheers

Stuart

Not sure if you're looking for a completely different solution to H7 LED mate, but I got these on recommendation from a forum user a good while back
https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/V9-CSP-LED-Headlight-Bulbs-Kit-10000-Lumens-12V-Canbus-Error-Free-upgrade-/372593012558?mkcid=16&mkevt=1&_trksid=p2349624.m46890.l49286&mkrid=710-127635-2958-0

At the time he said I needed these clips

But I think that was for the oem housing. I didn't need them in my aftermarket units.

The lights themselves have been amazing. Nice and bright and crisp. No errors and the pieces are quite high quality I found.

Thanks for the recommendation bud- I’ll have a look

My initial message might have read like I was recommending something other than a H7 LED kit but I'm sure you've figured out that that link is for a H7 kit! :P

There's a picture of the results somewhere on this forum mate. Think I posted it to 'what have you done to your car today' but can't seem to find the post.

I love my z4 but everything I do seems hard work , over engineered , mine are on candles first time Ive drove it in the dark and candles , even on high beam I wasn't flashed LOL
I was hoping for a straight swap and a post to say a straight swap here folks , cibie Oscars off my mk1 cut out n mount them in the grill seems tempting ,

Recently swapped out my faded Osram H7 bulbs for a set of LEDriving H7 Osram LED’s.

Result:

Nice clean cutoff, with considerably improved light output as seen below:

IMG_5898.jpeg

Installation was easy enough. Besides the LED’s themselves you’ll need the Osram adapters 64210DA06-1 to replace the generic H7 adapters supplied with the LED’s. About 20-30 minutes per side. Make sure to align the bulb correctly otherwise you won’t get the right cutoff. The two diodes should be facing the 3- and 9-o-clock positions

Where did you get the adapters from? Can’t seem to track them down.

Are there any CAN bus errors with the LEDs? Tempted to go down the same route on my newly acquired coupe.

[ref]Emanresu[/ref], Google for “Osram 64210DA06-1 Adapter” and you should find plenty of results. Got mine from a Dutch Osram reseller, but a quick look gave me this one:

Naturally, I’m sure there’s alternative sources out there

I got no errors, but that’s because I already coded out the hot- and cold bulb check, so it ignores any perceived issues. They’ve been working fine for me over the last 5000km, including a trip to Italy and through the Alps on a very rainy day.

My personal experience is that while the LED’s put out ample light, a xenon bulb “feels” kinder to the eyes. That partly has to do with the colour temperature of the bulbs: mine are 6000K which is quite a harsh white, while OEM xenons produce 4200K. 5000K is often named as a suitable middle ground: crisp, modern white but still “yellow” enough to also perform really well in rainy and snowy conditions. If yours is a daily, I’d always recommend going for a quality bulb at 4200-5000 Kelvin.
