It's my Z4MR in the video. He was a nice chap, put some petrol in it for me to say thanks, and let me sit in his new (to him) 550. Had some good chats.

It's always interesting to hear someone else's take and the car, and he has some comments I have not heard before.

I hope you enjoy the review and am interested to hear the forum's reaction to it. I'll hold my thoughts for now :)

JT your still about. :) The ///MR's looking good sir. Great down to earth video.

Nice roads around Wethersfield too. :driving:

Yes still about :D I've been a bit crap for a while as I've been busy through the lockdown and preoccupied with other things.

Down to earth video indeed. I do enjoy his videos and he posted some fascinating analysis of McLaren.

Thanks for the comment on the ///MR. I was a bit frantic to get it looking good for the video. I responded to a post from him on his channel the night before that he unexpectedly was free. I was about 200 miles away and my car was a mess after driving around, so I quickly got it cleaned and gave the interior a wipe. Turned out okay on the day and the stunning weather definitely helped!

Some great roads around there. They are new to me and I was driving 'spiritedly' for the drive-bys and found myself getting a bit too excited on some of the corners so had to cool down a bit.

I managed almost 2 mins of the fella this time ( ive tried his previous Z reviews with poor success  )
I like anything & everything Z & S54 related but i can't deal with the guys " dame ednaesque " delivery
I know he pops up on here occasionally & its not personal , clearly lots enjoy his work but not for me i'm afraid :(
A subtitled version would be ideal :P

Well done sticking with it for 2 mins! Overall, he liked it a lot. He felt you have to thrash the Coupe to enjoy it, whereas with the Roadster he thinks it is better at 7-8 tenths. Likening it to and old british sports cars - really fun to drive, rather than thrash. He also thinks it looks great and is a fan of Interlagos Blue

His main issues were that he thought the front end didn't feel properly tied down and not confidence inspiring enough.

RE: his style: I get what you mean and we're all different. I find there are some videos channels I enjoy that other people don't, and some I don't enjoy that others do. It's reassuring and the differences are what make us interesting :)

Thanks for posting the link - and supplying your car!

Interesting that he preferred the Roadster to the Coupe, but having finally bought one I'll stick with my MC. :D

And anyway it gives me a reason to drive it at 10/10ths sometimes - if I didn't have one already!

I like his reviews, Jay and Harry's garage are the only two I watch now. Will give this a look tomorrow

He’d like the thing if he got hold of it and used it properly instead of fannying around and being scared of it....!!

It's an interesting and probably a pretty fair review to be honest. I feel the beauty of the Z4M is that it's a part flawed car that you need to learn to drive around, brilliant engine and chassis, terrible gearbox and ride....and that's the appeal to me. I've had the 981 GTS for a week now and it's so ridiculously good, it could be almost boring very quickly, whereas the Z4M is equal parts sh*t and equal parts brilliant and for me, that's the fun in it.

Interesting Video, similar driving style to a TVR - 7 tenths!

This is it! I had a TVR Sagaris and the first week I was so disappointed, then after a while I drove it like I stole it and it all came together. The Z4M is one of those cars.

My pleasure :D

And both great cars - nice for us all to have the choice. Another reason for 10/10ths sounds good to me

I love Harry's Garage. Carfection is also fantastic - Henry is brilliant.

It still scares me. Which is exciting, but means I don't get the most out of it. At some point I will do a handling course or something so I can feel more confident. :driving:

Ooo a Sagaris. Always wanted to try one every since I spent ages driving and rewatching one on PGR3, back in the day. I love the style of that car.

If yours still scares you I obviously have a long way to go!

Mine can scare me - which is probably why I find it so exciting.

I enjoyed his review and I agree with him that it is a very flawed car. I'm probably overly harsh on the Z4MR because I had a TVR Cerbera 4.5 before it though. The TVR was noisy and it had a massive sense of occasion about it, the Z4M didn't have that for me in comparison.

Throw in the frustrating gearbox(especially 1st to 2nd) plus the overly harsh ride...and that made it a disappointing car for me. The Z4M can be a nightmare to drive on uneven tarmac and a bumpy road in my experience.

Having said that I did really like the engine and the 2 seater special feeling around it, plus it is an event to drive. In this day and age of auto gearboxes and 4wd...it does make the Z4M a very different and interesting car for sure. 8)

By the way I thought that the OP's car sounded lovely in the video. I thought mine was far too quiet as standard even with the roof down.

I have to admit that I agree with just about everything in that review.

I'm not a fan of Jayemm's videos particularly, but he hit the nail on the head. I bought mine after a long history driving Porsches, which were undoubtedly more capable. But GT3s aside, none of them have the character that you get from a roadster with such a glorious engine.

I bought my because it was a roadster and also that it just loves to be driven at 8/10ths. It's just a wonderful almost old school device to enjoy.

Thanks! I particularly love the intake. The exhaust is good, but a bit boomy around 2K revs.
