I think he got this one very wrong, the car is much better to drive hard than it is to drive slow.
At higher revs the gearbox springs nicely between gears, the engine is all about revs and becomes an animal towards the redline, and the steering which feels heavy and numb at low speeds provides much needed feedback when pressing on. It's almost as if he etched his belief in general about roadsters being soft onto the car to the point where he may as well not have driven it. Having been in a z4mr on track, it's scary how capable and composed it was, just losing out to a well driven cayman gt4.
