Vettel to leave Ferrari...and possibly F1

Well I guess it was inevitable really with on average a poor career at Maranello due to both team, car and driver errors and the arrival of Leclerc who outdrove Vettel on every level last year, signed until 2024 and is the teams firm number one now. The only options to stay in F1 in reality are McLaren and Renault, and even if they want him both teams are restructuring and hardly attractive to someone of his calibre, even if in reality he seems to have lost his edge. Personally I think he’ll hang his boots up at the end of this year, wether the season even starts or not. A very good driver in the right car but not on Alonso or Hamilton’s level imho.

Ok ok I know F1 is boring.....is only about money....not like it used to be.....doesn’t have the characters it used to have.....needs going back to square one and every other gripe going, but at least it’s not a topic about a virus no....? :P

Maybe a chance for Ricciardo to get back to a decent team?

Doubt it, Ferrari have always run a number one and two, Danny Ric won’t put up with being number two and the team are putting everything into Leclerc.

Seems the main money is on Sainz, then maybe Ricciardo to McLaren?

Yep that’s what I think too. He’s not happy at Renault and had talks with McLaren before he then went to Renault.

It will be Vestapten to Ferrari as he is the best driver out there at the moment, that leaves a seat open for Vettel in Redbull.

Verstappen has signed for another 3 years to Red Bull, that and Red Bull have already said they don’t want Vettel Maxman.

Ferrari won't hesitate at buying out his contract .

They don’t need him though as they have Leclerc. If they hadn’t then yes but they do have him.

Agree, they don't want 2 bulls in the same paddock (no pun intended)
I think he'll quit, a good driver when out in front but not a racer like Hamilton!

Interesting the comment about 'the good old days'. I'm old enough to remember them well and they were considered boring then
I read an article recently that stated that in the modern era there are more overtakes per race than in bygone years
Remember, a lot of the times a driver caught up, before he could attempt a pass the leading driver dived in for a fuel stop etc
Whatever, I love it

Thanks to c-19 and paternity leave I've watched a few "classic" GPs recently, either on the FIA channel or elsewhere one YouTube.

Man, are some of the famous ones super dull. The results are amazing - incredible performances by Senna, Schumacher, Hamilton etc - but time has been very kind to their reputation as sporting spectacles!

By By Mr Vettle. :D Only in modern formula one could such a average driver become a multiple world champion. Worked hard, had the best car beat his team mate I guess.

Why on Earth would Red Bull Let Vertappen go. Has he indicated he would like to drive for Ferrari? The Red bull car was on the pace last we saw of it, so I can't see why he would move. Red Bull can certainly afford to pay him just as much, so it would have to be for a reason I am not seeing.

Your correct Red Bull were on the pace last year ,mainly down to Vestappen .All the top drivers have driven for Ferrari with
the exception of Lewis .

As Lewis retired then

Vettel will go to either Haas (replacing Grosjean) or Renault (replacing Ocon).

I sense Sainz will be the number 2 driver at Ferrari behind Leclerc.

And when he couldn't beat him he wiped him out - ask Mark Webber!

Vettel just got lucky by being capable and in the right team at the right time, but post Red Bull he has been no better than average. I won't miss him when he retires.
