VERY VERY nearly finally bought another car

Well an update for anyone who gives a toss. The wife is out of hospital and in her drug-induced state has given the all clear for the purchase (not that I would have listened if she hadn't) so I have paid a deposit on the BMW Alpina B3 discussed earlier in this thread.

Clever, this will allow you to "hot bunk" when she regains her senses.

That looks a nice motor buddy.

I think your money will be safe in that.

The M6 will possibly be floated as your next purchase :fuelfire:

Well done Les - lets hope the inspection gives a better result than the 6 series

As others have said the wood is not my cup of tea but it look great overall

Good decision, it really does look good.

The chap selling it seems OK; we have had a few long chats and has given a really detailed walk-round. The history all checks out. It seems like a genuine, 1 owner Alpina. It is going for a new MOT tomorrow or Friday (my birthday BTW). Assuming all is well with the MOT, it will be mine next week.

Sounds goos, just a shame its not white or a vert but still a great car

I decided a while ago not to go for a convertible for two reasons: One is that I would struggle to fit two cars in the garage (due to half being full of tools and crap) and I will not leave a vert outside in the UK. The other is that the 3 series has a three part hard top. One thing I have learned is that a two part BMW hardtop is a pain in the ar*e, so three would increase this by 50%; no thanks. :D

I know you were looking for a coupe or saloon a few weeks back so not suprised.

That is not something I want to contemplate - mores sensors to go pop :(

I'm sure you'll enjoy the experience

As I've said on a number of occasions, owning an Alpina is like being a member of White's whereas ownership of an ///M is akin to being a regular at Stringfellows...

are you saying I don't get a lifetime honorary membership when I purchase? I thought that was part of the extortionate purchase price. Bugger.
BTW I had to look up White's

Everybody I've spoken to today I have told I'm buying an Alpina. One said "isn't that part of Renault?", one said "I vaguely remember that name from the '80s", the others said "what colour is it, and what's an Alpina?" :headbang: :headbang:

I need new friends and acquaintances :x

You have friends :poke:

Not surprising that many don't recognise Alpina its a rare beast and Alpine has made a big fuss with the relaunch and now F1 so easy to confuse
