oh the joys of owning an m mad4slalom said:did my vanos filter today , all went as per web guide, one query tho, mine had a little white nylon washer behind the small o ring but i have never seen mention of this by anyone else on here or on the web guide. just curious :?
mad4slalom said:sorry darren but i dont buy the technical explanation you offered, are you talking about the larger of the two o rings? in the op pictures it clearly shows a white nylon split washer adjacent to the left of the small o ring. I'll wager that it started life exactly the same as it is now and has'nt somehow metamorphasized from rubber to nylon ! just curious why 1, no one has spotted or mentioned it before and 2, why it is not supplied as a 4 piece kit instead of 3. :?

The filter isn't a maintenance item (from my experience at Inspection 2, my filter was totally clean), so there isn't a maintenance replacement kit.mad4slalom said:mmm strange, looks like they all have them, so there for a reason, dont know what though, but you'd think for a couple of pence it would be supplied with the 2 o rings and filter. :?
Darren Slone said:With there being quite a few ///M's joining the forum I thought I'd bump this thread back up, the Vanos filter isn't a service item so worth doing if you've not done it already![]()
Your oil pickup in the sump also has a gauze filter. Do you change that too on a maintenance schedule?sammyz said:As Tony says why have a filter and not have it on maintenance schedule?
