Can't say I notice any difference at all - I only fill up with VPower because I don't do that many miles so the difference in price isn't that much, and you get double Shell points.
Agree with you on the higher rate RON fuel, this car runs cooler longer on shell Vpower, especially in the heatwave of recent weeks.Quadracer said:Tesco have the highest ron pump petrol at 99 unless you can afford to run on BP Ultimate 102. I used to run the quads on 102 but at nearly £4 per litre only in the British Championship.
I have used 95 in my Zed on occasion when nothing else available but the engine gets a lot hotter, quicker than using super. It also (like you friend said) seems to take a while for the full performance to come back after the 95 has been in as if the ECU knows.
As a matter of curiousiity how did you do your back to back tests?ba3bas said:If you cannot notice a difference when using vpower then you are not, driving the car you own properly.
Also putting in vpower or another high octane fuel at every other fill is pointless.
Vpower is and has been by far the best fuel when compared with bp ultimate and Tesco 99.
I did my own back to back tests and vpower came up on top with mpg and throttle response.
It will probably provide better gains on modified cars but even on the 3.0 i wouldn't put anything else in.
Yes the cost is higher but get a points cars and use the points for air miles. I use it in conjunction with my credit card to pay and,i got enough points in a year to pay for my honeymoon flying first class and staying at two 5 star hotels for 10 days with only 1k supplement.
Saved several thousand pounds and i also have the peace of mind im not putting crap fuel in my car.
You get what you pay for in life... This includes fuel for your prized possesion.
My two pence..

Adam D said:For some reason my Z sounds louder on Vpower but pulls better and smoother on BP/sainsburies 97 at lower rpm; if anything nitro feels like it holds back a bit before letting rip. I was a committed shell fan but will give the alternatives a fair go in the light that numerous forums are suggesting that nitro could be causing running problems.
I haven't used tesco 99 in a while so unable to comment.
Also the mpg be benefit of Vpower seems to have dwindled since they started using ethanol in the mix.

I've read some s**t on here but that's taken the top spot! Does the extra 3 Ron make flames come out the back too![]()
I've got a bridge for sale if you're interested?

With respect this is surely the placebo effect.

But the test is done on a turboed engine so you'd expect a result. An N/A engine wont show a difference.
