7 35i on pistonheads atm.
The blue one was on here for £20500 missed chance for someone.. :x :x
The blue one is 35i and not 35is. They don't do manual 35is.
YEP I got it wrong :tumbleweed: still would have been a good buy

I'm not sure these will appreciate at all. The E89 is unloved by the market and the used prices and dealer contributions available on all models reflect that. There's no provenance or reason for the 35iS to appreciate, even considering its relatively low volumes.

I don't think the M135i is any slower at all. If anything it might be a little quicker. I think it was Evo or PH that recorded a 0-100 in the mid 10's. I thought the standard 35iS was low 11's.

BMW are doing both an M235i and an M2, the latter of which will have an upgraded version of the M235i/M135i engine delivering 350+ BHP.

I suspect the current Z4 could be the last.

My 2 cents, if I were looking for an E89 again I'd definitely get a high spec 35i, no brainer mainly because I'm a lover of the manual gearbox. I can't understand for the life of me why more members don't get there 35i's chipped the gains are unreal. Yes the warranty thingy always crops up but YOLO :) If you save on the purchase price get a set of AR down pipes from across the pond and there's not much that could keep up seriously, 35 drivers have no idea what there capable of.

Hi there, I was looking for a 35is myself, but BMW had literally nothing in their stock list nationwide with a half decent spec, so I went for a 35i instead. The adaptive suspension, noisier exhaust and 30bhp (and the other cosmetic parts) didn't warrant the additional cost for me.

To be honest it's the exhaust note of the 35iS that is doing it for me. To be fair I haven't heard the 35i one yet. I really need to drive one, but for me the 35iS is all about the sound.

How does the 35i sound in comparison. Not much on youtube when it comes to stock 35i exhaust demos.

Also, is the sound on the 35is easy to simulate via 3rd party exhausts do you think?

Welcome to the forum.
I don't think many new ones have been sold, so second hand will be quite rare at the moment.
What part of the country are you in?

I'm in the South. Starting to think about the 35i. I know there's probably not a lot in it performance-wise but I heard the exhaust on the 35is and fell in love. Maybe I need to check out the sound on a 35i before long.
I'm at Bedford Autodrome on Saturday, depends where South you are, most of the country is south for me :D

I'm almost as far south as you can get, near Brighton.

The iS exhaust is a touch louder and a touch deeper than the 35i but its not that different. I have the golfT mod on my 35i and its an awesome sound, loud, cracks and pops on shifts and sounds like a rocket at WOT...

Just YouTube it if you can't get to demo one.

Ye the problem is they are giving away the 2.0l and people are jumping and the deals arent similar on the more powerful cars so the price is eyewatering and tbf the Cayman etc are better cars for the money. But the E89 is a better cruiser/gt depends what you want.

Hang on, this is the first im hearing about 235i's and m2's :o 8) Thank god from those pics the headlights dont look like the 1 series :o :D

I had no idea the 35is were rare. Guess people just cant jusitfy the fuels costs so low numbers were ordered.

It's not the fuel cost, they're the same to run as the 35i. 35iS came later and at quite a premium cost over the 35i hence the lower volumes IMHO

As he quite often is I think maniac is right on this , the premium for an 'is' is very high and unless you are completely bonkers (yes thats me) you are never going to pay it

Your not going to get a new Cayman for 34k more like 42k and then theres the running costs believe me I did think about it but the z4 its a no brainer unless your made of money. :| :| :tumbleweed:

I think you will find 35i owners paid more a couple of years ago, than 35is owners are doing recently, due to the discounts available.

Quad is right on that... prices for these cars at any engine level are heavily discounted now... which may mean in the future there are more iS up for grabs. Back when the iS was at a premium though it sold very low numbers and hence why there aren't too many on the market yet is my belief...

It all depends on whether you want a 'degree' of exclusivity which is what you will get with the IS. For me I bought a nearly new 35i saved some £ and decided to add a few bits (ESS Tune, Induction, Eibach's, Spacers and Downpipes) as I wanted to create a more performance orientated E89. Exhaust note wise a tuned 35i even on a daily mapping will drown out an IS without the need for a 3rd party exhaust. You can easily source higher quality components as bolt on's than the IS has as stock. Depends how you want to spend your money. To me the IS means BMW have applied 'comfortable' tweaks to what is already a very good car.
