Urgent help with new car

MOT was done at a place on the same industrial estate where they are based. The black paint i think is spray on hammerite. Parts are still sticky.

Really not sure what to do now.

A phone call:-

Bring the tow truck and my money without delay!

With corrosion and camouflage like that I suspect the sellers and the mot station are In cahoots!

If you’re unhappy with your MOT service
Contact DVSA if you’re not happy with your MOT service.

I'd also suggest you get a witness to come and look and ratify the photos (maybe take their own).
Then there's no chance of wriggling out of it.

Money back in full and an investigation into who has painted over that beam and how it passed an MOT. Being generous these things can be missed when painted over, but, fresh sticky paint is blindingly obvious and ought to have set alarm bells ringing on the ramp. Imagine if that had collapsed whist cornering. Whoever has painted over that rotten frame needs to be dealt with, as Mikey said it's a potential death trap. Unbelievable. :x :x

First of all contact the sellers and get your cash returned asap .
Keep your powder dry till then

Once you’ve got your cash (Money not a cheque) you can then involve the authorities

Can I ask how much cash is involved?

That's pretty serious imho, I'm the last one to go squealing to the law etc, but someone looks to have deliberately painted over a completely rotten beam, it's far more a deal than just getting money back and walking away, this outfit needs shutting down if they're pulling stunts like this. You've been lucky not to have a nasty accident involving yourself and others Crypto.

Don’t forget MOT testers are not allowed to remove covers or bash it hard with a hammer or poke with a screwdriver.
This is the procedure to check for corrosion in a prescribed area:

1 Visual inspection
Use finger and thumb pressure to assess the extent of the corrosion
If necessary, carefully scrape or lightly tap the affected areas with the corrosion assessment tool
Use of the corrosion assessment tool must be restricted to ascertaining that the failure criteria are met and not used for heavy scraping or poking of the affected areas.

The corrosion assessment tool is like a toffee hammer ….

Your finger would push through that level of rust Rockhopper, at the least you'd feel it soft to press, as I said fresh paint still sticky ought to have set bells ringing surely..?

Asked for a refund, seller says happy to either refund or replace the rear sub. Going to collect the car tomorrow and told me he would refund once the car has arrived back to them. Told him I want a refund when they come to collect the car, before they take it away.

I’ll be honest I’m very sceptical now. Probably won’t even come. What would the best course of action be if they don’t come to collect the car and refund me?

Start gently, a blowtorch to the testicles for ten minutes. If that doesn’t work, get nasty.

Remember it is your property and as such your evidence which if push comes to shove you will be prepared to use?

Cheers all  I have figured out my course of action if they indeed don't turn up to collect the car and refund me. Will keep the thread updated. Also Ronk, £2000 the car cost
