Upgrade from Z4M .. impossible?

Am i the only person that seems to think there isn't much out there that's a realistic upgrade in all aspects from the z4m(coupe :D) without spending double the money ?

Lets say you had 10k budget to spend, on top of your z4m value.. im struggling to spend it, in fact today's research suggested i'd get more for my money with £10k's worth of supercharger, BBK, KWv3/rtab/mounts?

hmph. i don't like not having an idea of what my next car is, it doesnt sit right with me. At least - i'll be keeping the z4 regardless i think, it's just too good.

Indeed. Way faster and dirtcheap (and more space): m6 (you'd get some money in return! )

Faster on a track? some lotusses, nice westfield/caterham, some TVR's, you name it. With these cars the rhd versions are very cheap compared to the european lhd versions, so if I'd live in the UK, some of these cars would be high on my list (although build quality is generally poor)

911 gt3 is nice upgrade (especially trackwise) that might be in reach (that would probably be the 996)?

As you're focussed on money and budgets, tuning is NEVER a wise option. Tuned cars loose money. The only way to minimize that is the way tuned cars are sold: big part out! That means tons of labour that went into the car all over again.
If you want to go the supercharger/bbk/etc route, you have to do that because you want to, as a hobby/enthousiast. Forget the aspect of money. It will be more expensive than you plan, it will loose some daily comfort/usability, and installing parts (especially FI) is partly destructive on the parts.
In return you get an awesome (and unique) drivers car that drives&handles the way you want it, not how some designer at bmw wanted it. And tinkering with your car is a great way to spend your time (at least that's what I think  )

More of a theoretical conversation tbh.

I guess if you took what the Z4M is good at.. and up it!

Raw driving experience,
a great high revving, fast NA engine (330+hp)
Comfort (well, personally i think it is, has enough toys and having done spain and back, i'm now going to scotland and back..)
The boot on the coupe is big enough for the above trips...
Looks outstanding, and unique/pretty rare
0-60 in ~5s
155mph+

...
So you'd want 0-60 in sub 4.5 really to notice any difference, again 155+
Some sort of improved driving above the z4m standard..
More comfort, more luxury
not totally impractical.. (roadtrippable with a tent..)
Looks and sound to boot.

For your car plus £10k maybe a 997 Carrera S would be a good option. It's a reasonable bit quicker (think it's about 380hp) with similar (or slightly less) weight. Exige S2 maybe? A really nice previous gen RS4 or E92 M3.

I appreciate you hold the ZM in high esteem but a ZcM + £10k isn't hard to find a better suitor ?
Better spec/better performance /more comfort /more space/more prestige are your requirements ?

Haha OG beat me to it
The minute i can commit anything like£18k- £20k i won't even need to ponder / 997 even if gen 1 i would happily take the risk as gen 2 still that bit too far ahead for me financially

Yeah but it's just another Porsche on the road. I must see about 5 everyday when I'm driving round and I live in Devon.!!!

Maybe but they are a natural place to go when the Zm's no longer satisfy
Have you ever driven one ?

I'd love to test a 997 gen2 .. ideally c4s (for the looks more than anything..)

Im not sure why, but i dont hold the 911 THAT much higher than the z4m tbh, its barely faster in a straight line. You'd assume the next leg up from a z4m in budget would be ~30k for a used car, what's the best thing you can find? That one linked has 85k miles :/

Again.. this is all theoretical, i just tend to find myself pondering car sites these days, for a number of reasons - but primarily because i'm in limbo between jobs and killing time at my old job :)

How many austin allegro's do you see on the road nowadays?
Being rare isn't automatically a good thing

Audi R8 is maybe too expensive? If I shop around, they go for 30k+. For that money you might even get a GT-R. No need to explain how fast those are

I wouldnt have a 997 over a Z4M coupe for the same money,never mind 10k on top..

My vote.......XKR....

I've pondered this recently and the only thing I came up with was an Exige S2 - I was out at a local car meet on Sunday and there was a lot of metal and fibreglass which looked a lot more exotic than the M , but until the F type starts coming in around the 30k mark the M is here to stay.
