Upgrade Angel Eyes

Hi folks,
There seems like a big difference in brightness between the white inner and outer rings. Is the difference more pronounced than the factory yellow rings? Thinking about purchasing some but on the fence at the minute.

Thanks

I bought these cheap one's work great. The outer will never be even with the inner, but i leave my main lights all the time. so the outer being less bright is not noticed.

This is indeed the case as the rings are a different size and the lighting offset.

I wish I'd seen this thread earlier!

I've tried a few bulbs in my E89 with limited success.

first I tried some 80W LED's from ebay - only the inner ring lit.
So I then moved onto a 55w HID kit. - works but bulbs are too long.

So yesterday I ordered some of the new OSRAM COOL BLUE BOOST H9's

They promise to be 5000k so should match the HID's quite well. Reviews look good. They aren't road legal, but then neither are any of the LED's.

(road legal halogens need to be 4200 Kelvin or less, and 55w or less)

Problem is on the passenger side, there is no room to rotate it anticlockwise. Its blocked by some screws and other parts. However, there is enough room in clockwise direction but it doesnt unscrew that way.

Any pointers?

From what I remember both bulbs unscrew in different directions.
This caused me confusion when I was putting the new one in as I forgot and spent ages trying to screw the new bulb in the wrong way.

That’s correct, also the LEDs have a slightly thicker set of spigots which means at least for me that they would not rotate to the same lock position as the oem bulbs...skinned my knuckles for what it’s worth...

Nice effect when finished though..

Are the actual lights any different on the pre/post lci?

If the oem is now white, do they light both rings evenly and can those bulbs be used? Realoem shows two different types of bulb?

The angel eye lights on the e89 are not even..the inners if I recall are much brighter but that’s due to the light channel diffuser piece of plastic that Bmw uses not the bulbs themselves...the post LCI do have brighter lights not sure why....Mine is pre LCI but with the leds has a nice white light without being too harsh..

I’ve got a spare set off LEDs 6000k angel eye bulb if anyone is looking for a set.

Did mine the other day

Further more on this subject......

For the money I’m very happy with mine think they were 22 quid. However as most the inner ring is brighter then the outside I understand this due to where the LED light is in conjunction with the light channel on the halos.

Has anyone found any that light them evenly?

How about this style?

How did you get on with these bulbs? I have removed the led ones I fitted. The outer ring being dimmer was too much of an annoyance so thinking of trying these.
