What the hell miss me?

1. I go to the car.
2. I lock up and puts me into it.
3. I leave then door open. (from when I first open it)
4. I turn the key 1 notch forward.
5. I put firmwear-CD in (I does not eject one nav DVD out, since I do not have one)
I've tried, while the screen is in the "main menu" and while it is in the "GPS Navigation" (says that there is no navigation DVD / CD is in, etc. ..). No difference.
6. Firmwear-CD samples to be read, I can hear, but after 10-15 seconds, there will be quite calm, and nothing happens.

What am I doing wrong????   :headbang:

Have even tried to burn a CD + I bought one over the net. No work, and they look the same when you open them on your PC.

Check whether it's v32 (official) or v32.2 (hacked) before you start. Personally there is no way I'd put hacked f/w on my car

any particulate reason why , and please don't mention french or german langiages as it's a BS ,

Have had the battery cut for halv an hour. Still the same - nerver start update/recognise the CD!

Help please! :sos:

Btw, my software is now SW 4-1/12

It's not BS, it's a genuine problem mentioned multiple times on this forum. However as you don't want me to use that reason here are 5 more:

1) My car is under warranty
2) I don't think some hacker reverse engineering the code from the nav computer can do a better job than VDO's engineers
3) I don't need a night colour scheme
4) Speed Camera Alerts? Pfft. Only if you want to change your Nav DVD regularly to keep up with them.
5) Postcode Search doesn't need hacked firmware, just a modified disc with an updated POI database.

Couple of thoughts:
It might be that the Nav computer isn't fully booted as you don't have a map disc in it.
You didn't answer my other question. Are you using Nero or MagicISO or a similar program to make the disc, or are you simply copying the ISO file to a CD?

I have also tried with nav dvd in for a moment - turn of car for half an hour - went back and ejected nav dvd and insert the CD v32... Still the same. But of course, the nav dvd haven't been in for long time. (the car is stading still because of taxes and the winther).

Sorry, I have used UltraISO.

I tried burning different discs, different formats, open and closed sessions, etc, etc eventually I gave up and bought the disc online £25 with maps. Worked straight away.

I'm not a big believer in burning the discs at a low speed, but some have reported it helps, I burnt mine at 24x this morning and it was fine. It might be worth burning one more at slow speed, especially if you are using a cheap media.

What version do you have running now? SW 4-?/??

You shouldn't have to turn off the car for 30 mins as you actually want everything booted up.

One last attempt, then maybe burn another CD from a different image file. With the map disc in the computer and the door open...
1) Turn the key one click until the monitor pops up
2) Select navigation and make sure you can see the map. That should show everything if fully operational.
3) Eject the map disc (you should get the no disc inserted message in orange text)
4) Insert the f/w CD. It should read, then show CD Inserted, updating (or some similar message)
5) You'll hopefully see a screen come up for the update.
6) Click OK and it should give a progress bar as it updates then reboots.

If you don't get any recognition that it has a CD inserted I'd be looking at the media and trying to burn another disc. If a second one doesn't work try a different brand of CD and/or another source for the ISO image

What was your problem? it would not recognize the CD?

My software is 4-1/12 now.

I have burned 3 different CDs now with various speed - from only 4X.
I have also tried to start up in the nav-screen fully booted, as you says. Same s**t..

I just hope I burn the iso correctly with ultraISO!
But the brought exemple do the same = nothing!

I think... Is there a difference between German and ex. UK soft/firmwear?!
- my car is from Germany.

4-1/12 is Mk4, Colour nav, version 1.2
The current version (bmw official) is 4-1/100, which is Mk4, Colour, v10.0

Tapatalking...

I think that's the oldest f/w available. I'm almost inclined to think it might need an intermediate update. Something like v27 or v28...

It's worth a try! :)

Does anyone possessing V27? Standard, without any additions / corrections. Preferably a link.

I bought my 2012 plus v32 firmware upgrade disc from Rusty for £25 and worked perfect first time. All you do is pop the disc in, screen will go blank for a while then when it comes back on a few minutes later, you click ok and job done.

I just upgraded my maps to 2013 as it is on a single layer DVD so read better and faster.

Link for 2013 maps plus v32 upgrade for £25.00 is http://www.satnavupgrades.co.uk/id47.html
