Hi all,

I’ve been back in my Zed for three months or so now. Having started several threads for various challenges including airbags, steering angle sensors etc. I decided to centralise and summarise progress so far - with a few pictures of course.

Work carried out:

New Steering Angle Sensor
New Left Airbag B Pillar Module + coding (sourced from California!)
New Right Airbag B Pillar Module + coding
New front shock top mounts
New adjustable drop links
New auxiliary drive belt
New front brake flexi’s
New exhaust nuts and flat gaskets
4 new Uniroyal Rainsport 5 tyres (had a blow out on the M27 😬)
Fresh MOT

All work carried out by Ross and his excellent team at RBM.

Over the last few days I have been cleaning, polishing, applying leather care, leather colour restorer and some Renovo roofer to restore some of the convertible tops colour having doused in it Milton solution.

Plan to have a go at restoring the passenger side headlight as it’s a little cloudy.

Plenty spent so far but to be fair the car had only covered about 12k miles in the decade before I came along and put on 3k miles in as many months with all this fantastic weather, so I expected it to throw a few wobblies.

These cars are such good value and being over 20 years old now it’s really in great shape with excellent spec.

Some shiny pictures - still on 108’s (excellent condition considering their usual problems) and sporting the original whippy aerial and grey nose grille's.

Thanks to everyone for your sound advice as always.

That's quite a list, but your car is looking great.

RBM has been my go to place since Ross opened for business.

Have the same colour with 108’s like you so love this setup, unfortunately mine are significantly more ratty.

Out of interest what car seat are you using? I’ve given my kids a ride in the z4 but the current seats they have really should have a top tether when used.

The car is a credit to you. It looks really good. I know 108s have their problems but they really look good on the E85.👍👍👍

The Q5 does the regular kid carrying duties but Jude (my son) loves the odd top down pootle around Sandbanks. Link below hopefully works for you 👍

Finally got around to restoring the headlights, pleased with how they turned out.

Then decided I really didn’t like the faded black plastic trim in various places so gave some G-Techniq Permanent Plastic Trim Restorer a go and was amazed at how simple and effective it was to use. Be interesting to see just how ‘permanent’ it is but would recommend it so far.

That's quite a transformation.

Love it...! Agree that it'll be interesting to see how permanent the trim restore is. 👍

I used it on my door mirror fittings, and while I wouldn't say it was permanent it smartened them up no end and lasted quite a while. And you don't need to use much.

Ah yes, I did those too. Forgot to take before pictures but they were also very washed out. Look much improved now. Good to hear it’s lasted decently, even if not ‘permanently’. You’re right, a very small amount goes an awful long way so should be able to top up many a time yet.
