UK's best and worst!

Breaker

Lifer
We in the UK have had some awesome and really useless cars in the past!!

I'll start it off:

One of the best:

Aston Martin (any!)

Worst:

Austin Allegro! Remember the square steering wheel!!! :|

Good call breaker on the Aston. The Allegro too, although I would have accepted anything from the 70's Leyland heydays as a solid candidate (Marina, Montego, 1800, etc.)

So for me I'll go for the earlier E type Jaguar
Considering it's a 50 year old design it's not bad looking and still the definitive 2 seater roadster shape.

For crap I decided to go for the last throws of our fine automotive industry as although we have some real crud on offer today it's mainly Far Eastern origin

I went for the Rover Streetwise. A corny attempt to stick a grey bumper and ally trim on an obsolete pensioners car and attract a new young market:

Briiliant thraed! I agree with all the above thoughts!
So man to choose from- maclaran F1, lotus elise, land rover?
Finally plumped for this-
What an icon!

As for the worst- thats easier- expensive, crap, badly made and the even got the PM into one!

Mmm have to be the McLaren F1, no doubt about it.

Worst would have to be (like CJ) any Rover of the past 10 years, maybe the Rover 75 which was like a vulgar caricature

Beautiful:

Rubbish: Not sure where to start, Rover has made so many bad cars ...

Ta - all courtesy of wikepedia

So not British but they do grace our roads, are a source of humour to me and I was hassled by one on the M6 South this morning.

The Fiat Multipla - this is a beauty..

Am I the only one who sees an animal kingdom resemblance?

I guess mnufacturers and nature both throw a curved ball from time to time

Okay, I think the most beautiful car made in GB is the Noble, stunning...............

noble_m15-05.jpg

And the ugliest, oooh this is harder, so many worthy contenders have been mentioned, BUT no one has mentioned the Morris Marina, a b4stard of car design, a child of the devil......................

Mate I thought about it, but actually I think its quite pretty! The bollox underneath the galvanised shell is a different matter, but looks wise it is one of the prettiest cars in the world. BTW my brother-in-laws father was/is the foreman and was the guy in charge of the production floor. He still has many priceless artefacts from the production line!!!

Yep I meant as best car, not worst! Being from the "Back to the Future" era :oldman: I'm pretty sure the Delorean was *the* coolest car of 1985 (apart from the guy next door who had an A reg Audi quattro of course).

Audi Quattro...........................................like this??

BUT..................I really think the later lotus esprit has to take the title of most beautiful UK car..................

Good call on the Maxi - Did you consider its more hideous big brother the Austin 1800/2200 'Landcrab'?
Why oh why take a Mini and take the marvel of packing 4 people and an engine into a tiny car and then applying it to a giant car??

Toyotas are from UK? :D :poke:
He's confused, I mean, look at him

Actually Toyotas have been manufactured in Burnaston, Derbys., about 10 miles from me, since 1992 and engines in Wales too. I'm not sure that the featured model counts as British, but post Leyland/Rover not much is.
