The best and worst day in the Zed to date

Had a great day in the car today. It's been the warmest, sunniest day since ownership - perfect for a good run and an ice cream stop on the Ashdown forest with Mrs Silverzed. I'm guessing everyone has spent the day at the beach as the roads were clear so got some proper driving in... perfect day.

Coming home from said ice cream stop and the wing mirror glass is flapping around like crazy. Whilst looking for a place to pull over to either re clip (I now know its glue) or pull it off so I still have the glass it fell off at 40 mph. It hasn't even chipped or anything. Can't believe my luck :D

So now I need to know what glue you guys that have had the same problem used. I did a search and it looks like some sort of heat proof glue?

I was expecting a disaster
It will glue back on - someone will be along to tell you exactly what type no doubt

Here's the strongest mirror glass in the world and the element pad on the car.

The element pad has torn a little so am interested to know if I need to do anything to do to it or just stick the glass back on and forget about the tear.

Not a disaster at all! I have been really lucky since owning, this is the worst thing that's happened yet is all

It's only really the tear on the element pad that I'm a bit worried about. It's not really visible on the photo though.

I hope it remains the worst thing for the duration of your ownership

(stick it back on - forget the tear)

Bed it back in with decent clear silicone or pinkgrip / gripfast adhesive , also worth checking the other side

Thanks Mr Wilks
Got some clear silicone on the van so might give that a go... pretty confident if it isn't on there properly I can gently pull it off and re consider :)

I hear your one of the forums resident wheel gurus so might give you a private message in the coming weeks if you don't mind answering a couple of questions for me. Would be much appreciated!

Thanks for the suggestion . Does it still de-mist? Was my first thought when I first had a look.

I have a 2003 E85. I've never really noticed whether it demists, I don't think it's heated. I wipe it with a microfiber cloth if it's wet. The wind takes care of the rest.

They're all heated, constantly-it's more of that useless technology that you can't stand

It seems my car just keeps on giving way after I thought I'd experienced it all

You learn something new every day and all that... I'd always just assumed it wasn't linked with the rear glass heating.

I went with industrial gorilla glue In the end as it's 100% waterproof and can handle extreme temp. It bonds with water so a little wipe with a damp cloth, a couple of splodges of glue, clamped gently over night and jobs a goodun. :D
