UK Track day

Might be worth mentioning this on the other forums as a 'Z' day. That way we get the Z3 guys on board for numbers. :driving:

Not sure if this kind of thing would help, but this link was posted on the TT forum, especially for track day newbies (like me)

Might have a go on one of those first then do the Z/BMW one?

Hi,
I`ve not read all of this thread. I could be interested in this but most likely would need to be held at a weekend for me to attend.

To the guy with the Coupe on the beach, what wheels are those? Are those the 269 (or whatever the model is) lightweights????? I`m thinking about getting a second set of lighter wheels than the 18`s I have on at the mo.....

Hi Darren.

They're 19" CSL's. If I remember correctly the OEM CSL's only fit the M coupe, but there are a number of replica's available for non M's

Sorry to be the bearer of bad news but the likelyhood of you doing this is Aneroxic at best, Croft has recently had an injunction against them which limits them to 40 track events a year, a local family complained about the noise and won it cost Croft a 6 figure sum,

Donnington or Bands you are looking at 10 to 15k for the track before Marshalling and Paramedics stick on insurance you will need 100 to 150 to break even and that's if a circuit will hire to private individual,

We toyed with doing it a few years ago on bikes it the cost just got stupid.

would love you to prove me wrong but I just can't see it.

I've already done two this year at Oulton Park, but it's probably better to just pick one day & track from the multitude of track day organisers and go with them. Depending what day of the week you choose and what track, you're looking at £100 (midweek airfield) to £300 (Saturday/Sunday Silverstone).

My preference is BookaTrack and they do plenty of open pitlane days so you do as much or as little as you want.
Just got to sort out a venue and date that the majority can agree on, and then book via the organiser's website (not necessarily Bookatrack of course).

At least doing it through 3rd party you don't have someone on the forum shelling out £15k and then trying to collect £150 from 100 different people, plus you'd have to organise public liability insurance, ambulances/medics, marshals, fire tender, butty van, etc.

Alternatively you could just go to one of the BMWCC events (they've even got one at Croft).
