Thought I would share my experience of UK Mail which I have to say are pretty naff as a delivery service and my first time of receiving post from them. British Gas used them to post a new Hive Thermostat out to me but I think they need to change who they use lol.
I received a text message from UK Mail on Thursday morning to say they were delivering that morning which was no good to me as I was at work. No problem I thought they will be like DPD where you can change your delivery time mid delivery. Logged onto the UK mail website and nope there was no option to change the delivery time during delivery day. I called their customer services but said they had no contact with the delivery drivers or the local depot so I left it at that.
Arrived home after work and sure enough a calling card had been left but with nothing on it from the delivery driver so had no idea if it had been left with a neighbour or had gone back to the depot. Logged back onto the UK Mail website and it just said on the website delivery failed. I then had the option on the website to select another delivery day excluding Saturday or to collect from my local depot the following day so chose the depot option but there is a proviso if you don't collect the next day the parcel is sent back to the sender. Friday morning I received a text again saying my parcel would be delivered between 11.30am and 12.30 huh :? no good as I was at work again and I had selected on the website the day before to collect from the depot. I waited until 1pm and logged onto their website again to see if the parcel had been delivered but it just said status delayed. What the hell does that mean :? This I found out after some Googling means the message on the website is delayed and not the delivery lol. So now I had no idea on the parcels whereabouts bearing in mind if I didn't collect from the depot that day it would be sent back to the sender so decided to head to the depot at 3pm which was a fare drive out of my way. Oh and the depots don't have a contact phone number which is very helpful. Arrived at the depot and was told the parcel was still on the van with the excuse the driver had forgotten to take it off that morning and said I could wait until 5pm when he came back to the depot, yes I was going to wait 2 hours in a depot  . I asked as the driver was still out delivering then cant he deliver and leave with a neighbour but they wouldn't do that, then after all of that the Brain of Britain on the counter said they did do a Saturday Delivery
Why didn't he say that to begin with or have it as an option on their website to save all the messing about.
Compared to DPD or even Royal Mail they are pretty atrocious and not having contact numbers for your local depot is beyond me, would have saved a wasted journey, even worse not putting a Saturday delivery as an option is poor too when choosing a redelivery time
Good job they don't deliver body parts for hospitals
Rant over.
Tim.
