2000 mile update

A quick update for anyone experiencing high oil consumption with a M54B30 engine :
Approximately 2000 miles later and still running fine with absolutely NO oil consumption whatsoever and no topping up required! The 2L bottle I've been carrying in the boot didn't need touching but I'll keep it there anyway - just in case.
Happy days :)

As those of you who followed this gargantuan thread, you'll know that I replaced the original CCV system with a cold-climate version back in October 2016 (page 8 ). This was due to a failure of the CCV diaphragm giving a rough idle and power-drop. The cold-climate version was chosen due to it offering perhaps a modicum of extra protection against condensate forming in the CCV pipes, leading to gunking-up and possibly higher oil consumption. It was however, a b@stard of a b!tch to install!

Well, the 1 litre per 1000 miles oil top-up I had been experiencing is now no longer required and I put this down solely to the CCV system replacement, even though I also had a cam cover gasket leak (marginal oil loss).

It's not the 'miracle cure' perhaps as oil loss can also be caused by a multitude of other issues but I hope this may help anyone with similar symptoms for high oil consumption.....
