Tyre size question.

Hello, I bought my 2004 Z4 3.0 on Sunday and love most of it, the runflats are a bit hard, I drove the car back from London to Suffolk and parts of the A12 felt more like a rally stage ! the car has 17" style 103's with 225/45/r17 tyres all round. When i eventually get round to changing them to non-runflats, could i fit a larger size tyre to the rears 235/45/r17 or 245/40/r17 without an issue, or am i asking for trouble ? I like the wheels but would like a bit more width on the rears, grateful for any advice given

Sorry tuco - just dawned on me what you're asking - you want wider tyres on your present 17 inch rims - apologies don't know about that.

I'm sure someone will have advice.

:driving:

Just checked the manual and on page 76 it lists tyre sizes, 245/40/r17 91W is listed as a rear size along with 255/35/r18 90w. No mention of course if that 17" 245 option is fine for my wheels though :headbang:

Think I'm getting to old to understand any of it if I'm honest (will drink another cup of coffee and get the old brain ticking over)

Take the wheels off OP and look at the backs of them, you will then know if you have if you have 8J all around or two 8J's & two 8.5J's.

I would suggest taking off all 4 as someone may have mixed them up in the past and put them on the wrong axles.

The numbers will be stamped to the back of the spokes on each wheel :D

All ordered, would be a good time to check the roof drains as well.

It would indeed, get yourslef a pipe cleaner and give them a clean whilst you are there, i removed the rubber bungs from mine as well as adviced by other forum members.

I think there is a good how to on the forum if you cant find the drain holes.

Pipe cleaner ? do you have a link for the sort of cleaner you're talking about ? I've downloaded the PDF guide for cleaning the drains so hopefully I'll be good to go.
