I spoke to the garage about this system after the tyre was repaired, they said the good systems Merc,BMW and the one I carry Continental are all very efficient and the tyre is easy to clean out with plain water after use.

The 'M's have the BMW 'mobility system' fitted as there is no spare. I also have a couple of tins of Holts Tyreweld as a back up. Never had to use any of them yet though! General opinon is the BMW system is far better than a tin of tyreweld as it includes a proper pump to reinflate tyre.
I bought myself a compressor from Halfords when I fitted my non run-flats, it fits perfectly under the panel in the boot (next to the battery).
I figured that if I have a regular (repairable) puncture then that should be enough to get me to a tyre shop. After all, if the tyre is completely shredded then no amount of foam will help, and once foam is used the tyre can't be repaired.

Brought myself a brand new mobility kit, from a Ford :? , for less than a tenner on eBay.
A brand new BMW Mobility kit, manufactured by Continental Tyres, is over £100 so I sourced a cheaper alternative. :wink:

+1 on the mobility kits, mine came ready fitted, and they do look a tad expensive on ebay for the bmw ones. Can't see why another other one wouldn't be a good choice, and £10 sounds a bargain! I have heard that the sealant has an expiry date, so you may want to check any sourced outside of dealers....
I looked into the tyre sealant that can be left in the tyre - I have it in the wife's Passat - and that can be left in permanent, no problems. However when I looked into it for the zed, was informed that the tyre walls are too small and it can cause imbalance in the wheels, so its not recommended. On that basis, I would only use it as a temporary fix and get to the nearest fitters for a tyre replacement straight away. You can always carry/freight your tyre if you want to keep it.
I see the Slime people do a mobility kit which you can buy for around £25 from eBay. Does anyone know if this is suitable?

Nothing as cheap as a tenner on ebay at the minute, not that the price worries me as long as it fits under the false floor next to the battery am a happy man
As long as you separate the compressor and gunk they should sit side by side in that space adjacent to the battery. The BMW mobility kit comes in a zip up bag which won't fit. Keep your eyes peeled on eBay. :wink:
