Don't know about paint yet Eviltad - probably just a rattle can from Halfords, black, unsure whether matte or gloss, though I am tending towards the latter as they would look good with the black paintwork. That said, silver would look ace against the wheels and the calipers. Aaaaaaaaaaarghhhhh :headbang:

Actually, won't the paint just come off as soon as I do them up :?

You just need to handle your nuts gently Bing before you insert them

I have gently handled them, and sprayed them gloss black enamel from Halfrauds. They look good - just need to decide if I should clear-coat them. What do you reckon ?

As for the Vreds, they're on the wheels. Totally weird that the tread pattern on each tyre is opposite - nearly fell out with the fitter as I was convinced they were wrong, like there should be a left one and right one, but he'd only brought one side. But I phoned a friend (Jan_tekin :D ) and apparently it's normal :?

Indeed. I even spoke to the fitter's boss on the phone - I really wasn't sold on it. But I spoke to Jan and then did some googling, looked at a number of other forums, and that's the way they are. There is probably some fantastic science behind it but I have no clue what it could be...

What I found really strange was that given the number of people who have recommended them on this thread and others, not one person mentioned the weirdness :?

Oh, and there's quite a bit less rim protection than the PS2s, for sure. I'll need new fronts soon though, or it needs aligned again, as there's about 2.5mm left on the inside tread line of the PS2s, but at least 5 on the other two. Also weird.

Combined with my intoxication experience from tyre fumes this afternoon, it's been a very weird day indeed.

Exactly what I mean. Given they have a huge fan club on here you'd imagine it would be talked about more. Reckon you'll get used to them and they perform pretty well so good that you're trying them or size.

That's it looks a little wired but there great tyres, when are your swapping alloys?

The fitter's boss said that if I have any issues with grip - because you'd think the car will be all over the place, right ? - then he'll take them off and fit a different brand. I'm sure he'll not remember if I call and complain, but he seemed pretty confident that they're fine because others have said the same thing...

Saturday or Sunday I think, otherwise I'll end up poisoning myself and/or the family with new tyre fumes

And then it will snow next week

Yeah, weird but good Bing...and probably due to the fact people who have had these tyres just remember the great grip wet n dry, good handling and wear characteristics ,then maybe the (slight) increase in noise if you get "extra load" versions, I found, and also the Guigarro styling tie-in that they forget about the odd tread layout , ha-ha

Yo won't be disappointed...I am hoping the Goodyr assy 2 I just put on my cars rear are as good :)

Cheers Craig - I am feeling reassured now two people have confirmed the tread pattern. Not sure if they are the XL version, can't remember. I'll be getting them on the front if they are as good as folk say

anyone mention the weird pattern mix, Bing :D yours are definitely correct, have them on mine and thought it looked weird so I took the wheels off and checked for the directional settings.

Can't believe how long these have been around now and people have never heard or seen the wired tread pattern before. It's great fun winding your mates up when they tell you they're fitted wrong

These were first recommended to me by a salesman in a shop and were about 90 quid fitted for a 225/40/18. They weren't exactly expensive so I was worried they'd be pants, but they really are a fantastic tyre.

Only reason I didn't go for them on the zed was due to the c wet grip rating, else i'd have had them.

How are you finding them, Bing? Must admit, I'd never had any compliments on my tread pattern until I got the Vreds. :?

Was just out, chasing a C4S and an Elise in a mixture of wet and dry conditions, and they stuck brilliantly. They also unstuck brilliantly, if you get my drift. Get my "drift", oh god, this could go on forever...

They only went on the car yesterday MrPT - I've done about 6 miles, not even enough to take the wee rubber thread things off the tread yet. I'll keep you posted as I wear them in, should only take a couple of weeks with current mileage...

Ben - I knew about the tread pattern itself, just didn't realise that they look so odd as the tread effectively runs in opposite directions. It's all good though. As for wet grip, loads on here have said they're fine :?

Saw the weather report this morning - tomorrow morning will be the coldest of the year... Hmmm, brand new summer tyres and ice - best be a little careful when I leave the house at 0530 then. You watch, it'll fecking snow, I know it will... Meanwhile there's a huge nail in one of my winters so they have to stay off for now.

Vredesteins, I had them on the E85 and thought they did a good solid all round job!
Hard to beat them them for value for money v performance in all conditions! I will certainly consider putting them on the E89 when change time comes :driving:

Yeah the wet grip from them is fantastic. Tbh i'm a little unsure why it is a c rating as they should be higher.

No complaints when I drove my focus st anyway which had 253bhp through the front wheels.
