The Avons look very like the PS2s I have now, whereas the Vreds look 'tighter' to the rims. It's not really about kerbs as I am as careful as anyone, it's more pot holes nowadays. The few marks I have on my 108s are nearly all from catching the edge of and unexpected crevasse in the road

My current 19's are fine as I got them with the correct offsets for the regular Z - I personally prefer the wheels to sit just inside the bodywork. What I meant was my previous wheels (224's) had the standard M 255/40/18 and I found the tyre wall absolutely flush with the rear wing lip. You will definitely need to loose the spacers or risk the Carlos fandango look :? It's a marmite thing, some people love their wheels flush, just thinking as you are also on eibachs about clearances. As for stretch, I am running 225's at the front on an 8.5 rim and there's no obvious stretch. Perhaps the 35 profile will do the job fine, look forward to seeing some pics

Yep, definitely taking the spacers off - which I'm happy about, as whilst they look great I'm always a bit worried there is more rotational force on the bolts. They've been fine so far though.
I'm just going to go non-M sizes on the tyres - cheaper, and they'll fit fine. Thanks for the pic, can't wait to get mine on

OK, so I came on here for a conclusion to guide me in my new tyre choice and I'm actually more confused.
Its definitely time to get the Winter wheels back in the shed and the summer tyres have been "optimised" already so what rear tyres for my Si Roadster for less than £300 fitted outside my house?
Are Vred Sessanta's discontinued as they seemed to be the favourite.

Blows it by £12, which isn't bank breaking for me... I have only found Sessantas on their site. You can get tyres for less, but then you need to pay to have them fitted. It'll cost me more anyway as I need two tyres moved off old wheels onto new and balanced.
Bing - I know I'm coming late to this thread - not been on forum much lately - just too busy and though I've not much new to add I can also highly recommend the Vred Ultrac Sessanta - both in dry and wet. On our Euro trip 2011 we had a horrendous wet weather day driving all day on Austrian / German motorways and the Vreds were quite amazing ( and remember my daily drive is Audi S4 Quattro so I almost expect to spin backwards through a hedge in the wet - but never have !).
Can't say I noticed much noise increase, roof down stereo on ( oh and ears that have been to far too many rock concerts). I think I'm on my 3rd set of rears (driven reasonably spirited though I accept not daily).
I think they are an excellent blend of performance at reasonable cost. No experience of the new Vred Vorti (though on a totally shallow basis - they are not as aesthetically pleasing).
I also think the Sessantas have decent rim protection - I haven't a single scuff on any of my wheels since having them refurbed well over 2 years ago - and we have at least our share of pot holes.

To conclude this thread, I have succumbed to the aesthetic draw of the Vreds and ordered them this morning. To be fitted and the fronts moved over from my 108s on Thursday, and I'll try to get the new rims on the car on Saturday or Sunday. Just need to get some paint and tart up my old bolts first.
Don't know about paint yet Eviltad - probably just a rattle can from Halfords, black, unsure whether matte or gloss, though I am tending towards the latter as they would look good with the black paintwork. That said, silver would look ace against the wheels and the calipers. Aaaaaaaaaaarghhhhh
