Ah, but rubber on an M is a different judgement, no ? Adam's roadie was a 3.0, and saving a few quid appeals right now...

And if they can handle Adam's enthusiasm they can handle anything I throw at them

If the price was right, yes.

However, as my tyres are worn differently some new some not, I'm more likely to go Goodyear to keep brands the same

The Avons were a lot cheaper than Goodyear when I looked, Goodyear were over my budget...

Avons are good, but I would go for vreds everytime on a 3.0i, I found they can be a tad noisier than some others, but better grip wet and dry and wear a lot better than anything else I have tried.
Choices , choices Bing, lol

I honestly thought the Falkens would get more votes, as the 452s were raved about on here. I guess the 453s are not as good ? I'm still with the Vreds in my head tbh - saving a few quid appeals, but I'd rather spend a bit more to get the best I can afford right now. The PS3 and Goodyear rate highly, Vreds next best choice. Interestingly Avons never feature in tests, and Nexen get some good ratings.

Just remember whatever you choose it'll take 300-500 miles to scrub them in and get proper grip out of them...

Or 10 miles with the wheel arches scrubbing them :poke:

My tyres don't rub on the rear arches, only the fronts :D

20mins of wheel spinning in Tesco's car park should do it though

Mr W will hate me for saying this, but don't dismiss Kumho Ecsta's. Great price midrange tyre. Had them on the MC and never had any issues.

Cheers inkey$ - Kumho are about £15 a corner cheaper than the Vreds where I'm looking.

Thanks for all the suggestions guys - tyres seem to come in and out of stock in random patterns, so at least if the Vreds are out of stock when I go to buy next month I have plenty of alternate choices

Just to confuse you I have ZZ5s on the coupe, done 10k on them and still 5mm left on rears.

I'm not ragging it through bends all the time but not driving like a pensioner either

Good wet and dry handling

They were new on the car when I bought it so don't know if they are noisier than others

Just sharing experiences

Goodyear f1's for me have used contis and dunlops both too noisy couldnt wait to get back on the goodyears
had 2 rears put on the other week for £320 fitted well worth the money

I just bought a full set of 453's, they seem decent enough quality, made in Japan, they were middle of the road in terms of fuel efficiency/noise and reasonably priced. I had the now discontinued Sessantas on my previous 224's which I liked, shame they are now discontinued.

Bing, if you are fitting 224's to an Si you may want to consider 245's at the back (like DPGs coupe). 255 really are pushing the limit of the arch for me.

Cheers

You've got 19" wheels on though, right ? 224s are 18", same size as my 108s. My car is lowered, but I can take the spacers off because of the offset on the 224s... So they should fit fine with 255/35/18 tyres. M fitment tyres are 255/40/18 but that's not what most non-M drivers use on 224s. Not keen on stretched tyres either because of the way they look, and the fact it simply exposes the rim to damage.

At the moment I can still get Sessanta's from the supplier I'm looking at, just need them to stay in stock for another couple of weeks

Vreds I'd worry about zero rim protection. Other than thats they seem to have a lot of fans.

Ahhh, didn't know that... Cheers inkey$. May need to re-evaluate. Again :P
