I don't know and I believe you know more than me about E89s' alignment stability, anyway. My comment relates to roads rather than the E89. :)

I'm lucky enough to live near a tyre dealer with a Hunter, who charges for the work he actually does. So, instead of having a fixed fee for front or full alignment, he does a diagnostic, shows you the printout and says, 'That'll cost you x' or 'Go away. It's OK'.

Living in a town where the potholes are so big they have echoes, I go to see him when I hit a nasty one and every 3 or 4 months even if I think I've managed to avoid 'em all.

The shortest interval between nasties was 17 days. The longest with none was 4 months, but even then the settings had wandered far enough for him to reset one of the fronts. (I keep all the printouts, of course.)

So, I just regard alignment as a running cost.

I don't disagree that at times a alignment is required but i also believe that if a Z is running straight + true don't go looking for problems :( once the factory set up has been touched things are never as they were & many times owners end up looking for solutions to problems they may have created themselves :cry:
 
As I have already posted on another query re wheel realignment, National tyre service have a deal where they will do the fronts only for £15. I phoned around three branches and found one that would also do the rears for the same price. With new tyres fitted why wouldn't you not have them checked (They were out especially the fronts) for £30?

I wouldn't as i don't trust the capabilities & skillsets of the employees the UKs big name car maintenance chains employ :cry: but if it works for you at £30 all 4 corners then that's all good
 
Kwik Fit - titter ye not - have an alignment guarantee. :?

It looks expensive - £100+ - but it means that they do a full Hunter alignment and then guarantee it for 2 years, so you can go back if/when you think it's out and they'll do it again free. Quite how many times, I don't know, but if you go back only twice, it's a decent deal.

I have been using FORMULA ONE AUTOCENTRES for the last few years, they constantly monitor online offers and found that they always come up with the best deals !

All done with laser kit and watched by me both in the bay and on the same screen he was using to align the wheels with computer print outs at the end to show final alignment. All looked controlled by the computers telling him what was needed

I'd just part with a little more cash and get the real deal. I can see why people would get Uniroyals if it meant saving £400 on a set but you can get Michelin Pilot Super Sports for £170 each or go for the best of the best and get the Michelin Pilot Sport 4S for £195. You're saving £100 but getting less grip, more noise and less mileage.

On a 2ltr model I can see an argument for not needing so much grip but on one of the faster E89 models I wouldn't even bother getting anything less as you are not going to be able to get any power down on cheap rubber.
 
Just to clarify, my current wheels are 255,30,19s (rear) . I wish to get the 255,35,19. Do i need to change front ones too ?
 
I need a new front tyre, car has Bridgestone Potenza RE050A all round, to ensure it looks good if I ever sell it, I would like to replace it with the same. Having looked at all the places, it doesn't seem as if they do RE050A in run flat anymore, any tyre experts know?
