Two of my all time favourite classic cars are coming up for auction very soon.
If only I had the garage space, I would be bidding on both of them.
Firstly a 1978 Toyota Celica 1600ST (RA23). When I was a child, we had a 1972 Celica ST as our family car. I loved that car more than was healthy for a 10 year old. In the last 20 years I vowed to own another one one day, especially as my dad has now passed away. Trouble is there are very few left and most of those have been 'max powered' with replacement engines and the like. The one here is not my favourite colour, or year, but beggars can't be choosers.
Secondly a Scimitar GTC. Again, as a child I used to drool over adverts in Autosport magazines for (expensive at the time) GTEs, as I always loved them, for reasons I can't really explain. The GTC is rare and would fulfil another boyhood dream. They have never been very desirable as a 'classic' so prices have been very low, but are starting to rise now (probably cos they are about the only cheap car left of their era).
Both cars are probably not on many people's traditional 'dream car' list, but I want them both.
