Ok i took TH3R4POR's advice and went for the VHT paint original tips option. It came out very dull and MATT so i gave it a couple coats of lacquer, which livened it up just enough. Have done around 100 miles with it done now, no noticable difference to the paint or finish and i quite like it, subtle.

Appreciate any feeback... :tumbleweed:

Now with a pic...

Rudd_2002, Yes it did come out very dull and Matt originally but a couple of thin coats of lacquer on top gave me this;

I think i actually prefer it to how black chrome tips would look.

looks quite cool.

I would do that to a set of tips just to beef the pipes up a little more. might try something similar.

what paint did you use?

Not for me. It just looks like you haven't cleaned the tips, but if you like it then I guess that's all that matters really. :)

Meh... the shot from a slight distance, yes agree looks dirty. The closeup looks  I think they'd need a permanent sheen on them so they don't look like you've let your standards slide :poke: Suspect the photos are not doing them justice.

Maybe it's the photo's maybe they actually do look dirty ! I'm just not a big fan of chrome.

Guess i'll leave for a couple of days and re assess, cheers for the feedback !

Not a thread I'd been watching so nice to see the concept ideas and results all in one read.

My considered opinion is 'nargh' It's just not working. If perhaps this were done aon a stealth black Zed where the wheel are black too then it might work. I think oyu need the small flashes of chrome or alternative colours to lift the car.

Watched a West Coast custom Lambo being done and they built a dustbin sized hex shaped single exhaust. Fitted mesh in it a once sprayed black looked awesome, but that just the mesh.

As to the link to mine being sprayed - yep - bottom half of the ///M boxes in matt black bbq paint to hide them. Paint heat bonds to the surface

a graphite or gun metal colour would have darkened them up a treat, black is too dark i think - but hey this is what cars are about, if the owner likes it thats all that matters  i personally like chrome pipes.

I like the idea - but personally i prefer the chrome on mine (but dont like keeping them clean :x )

Have you also sprayed the rear lights slights with some light tint?

:poke: Well that must be around +10, a record surely ...

That's what i like about this site people are honest without being rude, best i get me some chrome tips, now who's got a spare set lying around...
