maybe the world need a change, maybe people do need to count for a change, maybe we need this, and the exit from europe, quite funny as on the radio this morning during the count, a german spokeperson was saying how bad it will be for europe and so on and so on, and i just remember those exact words following the british exit results.......sour grapes anyone
 
Stock markets recovered and are up - guess the finance guys like a finance guy to be in charge after all.

My thoughts too....but it will be interesting to see what happens over the next 6-12months and beyond,regards sending Mexicans/immigrants back and the like.
And baning Muslims from entering the U.S,if he sticks to that pledge?
 
I always thought that a trump was a trouser cough. Now it has become the President of the free world, sh1te, talk about a new world order!

I was very surprised this morning, but it has the potential to be a real roller-coaster ride unless he can be kept under a degree of control! I mean plenty of people in his own party didn't support him - bit like our current Labour Party leader, but hopefully he will never get elected!

Just hope Trump stays buddies with Putin - the thought of those two having a big falling out could affect the whole planet! :eek:

I really dont care who won the elections in the US. I think that its probably more important how skilled his advisors will be because they have the most influence on decisionmaking I think.

I do think however that its better that 1 party holds the presidency and senate/house of representative.
If every proposal gets blocked or altered a country becomes a bit adrift.

technically the minority of people voted for trump but don't let that stop you from making a point..... unless your being ironic of course :thumbsup:

Didnt that also happen in the 2000 elections?
That Gore got more votes than Bush? (that was that election with the recount in florida where things were really close)
Maybe that is usually the way as democrats always get california and the northeast cost where apparantly/maybe live more people than the representative amount of electors for that state.
 
The Electoral College system is a first past the post system, if you win the majority of the vote in a state, you get all the Electoral College votes for that state. California and New York have 84 votes between them, over 30% of those required, and always vote Democrat. I have seen people saying that many Republicans don't bother to vote in California and New York as they're always going to go to the Democrats.
The Democrats were always going to have an uphill task as America has had 8 years of a Democrat President but had they selected anyone but Hillary Clinton I suspect they would not be in the position they are in now.
I was in Pennsylvania in September for a few days, I saw quite a few Trump bumper stickers and signs in windows but saw hardly any for Hillary - apart from one that said 'Hillary for Prison 2017'.

I laugh as it's amusing that he got elected, portably far more from a greater hate of Clinton, but his policies will never happen.

Already they are changing And it's 2 months before he's in the chair.

Sure there will be a few noises he makes, but then the forces of economics, national and global politics, party and self interest, etc. will result in as usual 'no meaningful change'
Already no wall, no scrapping Obamacare, no mass deportation (due to cost). Real political change is too painful, but the dream of it's fine..

Dream on those who expect meaningful change either side of the pond
