Trolly Jacks again

I'm debating getting this one to replace my current one which tends to drop all the time. Starts from a "low profile" height but reaches higher than most, also has a pedal for quick lift which could be handy when lifting at the front centre location.

I bought this one a few months ago, as was fed up with my cheapo one keep twisting with weight on it.

The Halfords advanced jack is superb. Easy to use, has double pistons so is little effort and it locks really easily. It also has a large pad so easily takes a raised pad to sit into the BMW jacking 'holes'. It sat for a week raised with weight on and didn't drop a mm either.

Only downside is it is very heavy, so you can't carry it around. Needs to be wheeled everywhere.

I've had that one for over 5 years and had no issues with it, although I generally only use it twice a year to swap between winters and summers on my 330i.

That looks like mine. It works well most of the time, but it does start to sag eventually without a quick pump or two to help keep it up :icecream:

It’s never leaked but, on rare occasions, it has twisted whilst coming down due to the wheels failing to roll across the garage floor. It’s easily fixed by raising the car again.

Mine's Halfords, can't do the link thing but it's a low one and goes under my SE with room to spare 2 ton trolley jack and costs £55.00. Used it a few times and seems fine.

Thanks for the review, that confirms my choice  Now I need to convince myself I need to get a new jack or parts instead

I know that feeling. :D Anyway, back on topic.......

Just to recap, am I correct in thinking it's OK to use Jack on diff and lift ( with a block of wood or rubber)?
