Tried to sell my Z4M but couldn't

I've been toying with the idea of getting a more practical car so I did the did and put an add on-line.

I did have some interest in the car, one bloke offering a Z4 3L + cash notably but I couldn't sell it.

Why?

Because I like it too much, so I withdrew the for sale ad :)

Given the poor amount of money we get for our car come resale and the fact that the closest thing to it in terms of speed and fun is a 997C2S, it makes sense to keep the Z4M as long as possible!

One drive the other day reminded me why I bought this car - even going to the shop's is an event!

So, just wanted to share this mild ramble with you. If you're thinking of selling your Z4M, be it a coupe or roadster, think carefully as if you do, I think it would be sorely missed

Anyway, if I sold it I wouldn't have such a stunning car to photograph!

Steve,

I think a lot of us have come to the same conclusion. It puts a smile on my face every time I drive it and if I could sell it for £17 -£18k what would I replace it with that's as new and as fast and as well equipped?? There ain't many alternatives especially if you want a roadster.

I can see me keeping it for another 2/3 years and getting my monies worth! :D

Last one is Leith Docks, Edinburgh. What a windy day that was! First week I had the car :) First pic is A82, Spittal of Glenshee, usually drive up there to Tomintoul then on to Keith in the Highlands...

the car market is depressd just now but with almost no new car sale second hane prices will firm up in a while. the thing to remember is with a little bit of TLC your Zed will do well over 100K miles and be exciting the whole time . enjoy zeddom :D

The Z4M stirs up more emotion in me compared to anything else I've seen/sat/driven/owned. It's the entire package, baby!

100k miles :) At this rate of mileage per annum it would take me 20 years :D

Cracking pics Steve

I recognised that last location immediately - how the hell do you manage to get into nice locations for pics? I was sure that bit was off-limits! But I think you mean the A93 if it's the Spittal of Glenshee you were at :D. Excellent road to drive, not had the chance to do so in my Z4 yet but looking forward to when I do. I drove the A93/A939 all the way north to Nairn last year in my previous car - what a drive...

4.5 years for me

One drive the other day reminded me why I bought this car - even going to the shop's is an event (sometimes sideways at the Sainsburys roundabout).

Why do you want to do this on a public road? What about the totally innocent family you total when you eventually (& you will....) lose it?

Great car but as so often, able to be bought by idiots. Take it to a track. There you can drive like a pratt & total it at only YOUR cost - whilst entertaining only the skylarks. :headbang:

Calm down dear  It wasn't an intentional powerslide and don't worry, no single mums or eco-friendly ethnocentric people were harmed while packing their lentils

Don't you just love keyboard warriors! :)

A11y - that's right A93, totally forgot the name! Love that road - very demanding to drive with all the sheep and potholes but trully stunning, especially when you take the left just before Ballater over the mountain.... The in-laws live in Keith so I always take the long way! Had a great spirited run with a porsche I posted about a while back on that road...

The very road - no shoppers harmed though

The extra burnt rubber has shortened the life of your tyres, hence adding to the negative environmental impact of tyre refuse. I for one, am dissappointed that we don't all take everything in life literally and cycle our eco-friendly bikes with frames made from recycled exhaust piping to our paper mache offices.

On a more serious note, steve, where are the roads you are talking about? I'm in Glasgow and struggle to find anything exceptional around my way?

Perhaps we can meet up in the Spring (if we have one) and go for a wee blast? My car will be asleep till then and i'll be using my bicycle to get around and reduce my carbon footprint. :D

:D Funnily enough, my Z4M tyres are lasting way longer than my old Boxsters ever did

There are tons of good roads heading North, I do a lot of motorbiking with friends and we are always finding new ones. Great in the Borders too!

A spring meet would be a good laugh! :D

:o

Where do we start?! There's so many great roads around heading north and south from Glasgow. I'm not an expert on the Ayrshire/Dumfriesshire roads, but head north from Glasgow and you can't fail to hit a good road. Some beauties towards the borders south of Edinburgh too.

There seems to be more and more Scottish members so maybe a meet in better weather would be possible :)

Glasgow born and bred guys but every time i go for a drive i end up on crap main roads. I need some local knowledge to help find decent runs.
