Trickle charger on the M - options/advice?

Would the wires really melt if you left the plug perminantly wires to the jump point under sonnet, and secured it by the bulk head? There are other wires and rubber hoses under the bonnet

No.

Mine are connected to the charging point and run across the back of the bulkhead and secure over in the corner on the passenger side. Been on the car for 3 years now and had no issues at all.

This talk of melting wires is total bollocks.

Yep, it was an assumption and actually complete the and utter bollocks if we're being precise about it. I stand corrected :D

As I'm here, and just to piss on Bings bonfire further, that cable route you've taken Bing is appalling.

The pos can connect to the jump start terminal, and just to its right is nice big stud that the neg can connect to.

Much tidier and no melted wires :P

Wasted piss Steve, I honestly couldn't care less what you think. It works fine the way I've attached it, and it's only on when it's in the garage. "Appalling" is however a word I would use when describing the state of that engine bay... :P

Fair enough, I thought it was permanent!!

Yep, its filthy, I've never really got into cleaning engine bays.
I'll spend hours doing the paint, the interior, glass, but I've never got into doing the engine bay on any of my cars, even when I had my supercharged VR6 I never cleaned the bay!

One day eh!

In fairness my engine bay was very clean when I bought the car, I just need to give it a wipe every time I wash it.

Merry Christmas - may your wires remain unmelted
