Transport mode

Hi guys my first post here as normally I have been able to read old posts to sort my problems out.

So my e85 had battery issues and I think it has gone in to transport mode reading other posts. Windows, wipers and roof stopped working.

Does anybody know anyone in Nottinghamshire/Derbyshire who can reset or even better delete the transport mode? Obviously I do not mind paying.

Thanks for any advice.

Hi Rogers

If you have a laptop the below software and cable is capable of clearing your transport mode amongst other things. This is proven with my vehicle which recently had the same issue and a forum member kindly helped me out using the below.
I have ordered one myself but I am in Bristol. Hope you find someone or manage to sort it.

Hi was it easy to install and use the software?

I can’t comment on the install as mine hasn’t arrived yet, I think the software is actually free if you give it a Google you just won’t have the cable.

In terms of usability, it was pretty straight forward and as soon as the code was cleared my air con, roof, rear window heater and fans starting working again.

I tried this for weeks. Had to set up virtual machines, then some DIS software, INPA? and then multiple upgrades and stuff. It was a nightmare. BMW wanted £180 to delete the stupid code which came on after I had a low battery.

It's been 2 years since it came on and I've still not fixed it, mainly because I havent used the car in the last 2yrs much at all. It's very annoying though!

I'd be mindful of those kits on eBay; I paid £30 for mine with the canbus and software and it never worked. I had to download countless images from online sources and still couldn't get it done... and I'm supposed to be relatively techy! It was just too cumbersome.

Anyway good luck, let us know how you get on and if you mange.

I am the one who fixed Bristolcot90's car that was in Transport Mode following a dead battery that caused it to revert to Transport mode closing down some of the electric systems to conserve what power was left in the battery so the car could start.
I used BMW Scanner 1.4 software on a Windows 7 laptop to reset the mode to Normal Mode using the programming menu in the Body Control module.
The software is in fact PASoft which is a refined version of BMW INPA. It is very easy to install on a laptop either using the supplied CD or usb stick they now supply with the interface and cable. Once loaded and opened it is easy to connect to the car via the OBD2 diagnostic socket, it will connect to your car and display a check page detailing your Vin Number and other details. That window is closed and from the main menu you select Scan, it will scan all modules that are fitted to your car it will report not found if a module is not fitted. There are three pages of modules, you do have the ability to stop the scan if you choose to do so having seen the module you are interested in appear and report its error status.
Once a scan is completed or stopped by the user you click on the Module you want to expand and this will open its window where you can read the fault codes, clear the fault codes and on some modules reprogram the module. This is what was required to change the Transport Mode to 'Normal'
The software is relatively cheap on ebay and a very useful tool to have for diagnostics.

I am in South Wales, bit far from you otherwise I wouild have reset it for you.

Colb,

Thanks for the update. I have just ordered the scanner 1.4 from the link. Will hopefully have a go over the weekend if I can find a friend with an old laptop.

Cheers

Mac,

Thanks for the offer though 👍

Just reset another members Z4 with Transport Mode engaged due to low battery, thats the problem of having more Z's to drive and not driving one so often. I did run DIS software on it this time to see if it could be deleted permanently, first time I have used DIS which runs on the laptop as a virtual machine, its rather slow on my old laptop I use for diagnostics but did find my way around it. It didn't show the car was in transport mode but aircon not working heated screen locked out and fan speed set at low so that told me it was in transport mode. I did use DIS to delete transport mode but I don't think it did delete it. Switched over to BMW Scanner 1.4 and went into AirCon module and reset transport mode to 'Normal', All systems then restored to normal operation. Will have to have another play with DIS to find my way around it for the future.
Its no surprise the dealers do not delete Transport Mode as they are supposed to do, its easy money for them and a rip off on their customers.

Can anyone in the North West remove Transport Mode from my Z4 E86 3.0si? I'd appreciate it if anyone can. Thanks

Just an update from the Zedshed Cymru enthusiasts group here in South Wales regarding deletion of Transport Mode.
As stated earlier BMW Scanner 1.4 can reset it but cannot delete it permanently. I now have a Launch Tablet Scanner i use in the Zedshed and that has the ability to delete Transport Mode from all the modules it is embedded in. When our members come to the shed for jobs on their cars I always offer to delete it so they never have the problem arise if the battery gets low. The Zedshed Cymru is not a business, just run by enthusiasts for enthusiasts, it is always left to the individual if they make a donation to the shed to assist with running costs for consumables and the odd tools we might need. Must say they all do chip in as its far cheaper than paying garage labour charges and they know jobs are done right, we do encourage spanner wielding by owners as its a good learning opportunity.
For those further afield if your ever down this way and if I am available, usually about most days except Sundays and Mondays your very welcome to pop in and have it deleted, you will get a full Health Scan on the car at the same time.

Hi roshroops, I am in Newport, South Wales just off the M4 Junction 27 High Cross.

Hey Colb,

Thanks for the response.

I have a 2008 z4 2.0i. I am based in London and my vehicle is in transport mode, I was planning to come down on the morning of the 16th December, just wanted to check if you are free?

Might be a problem, Mrs colb in hospital for hip replacement so running around from the 10th. Give me a shout after December and we can sort something.

Hi guys my first post, newbie to the forum 🙋🏻‍♂️
I’m having trouble after the battery went flat on my E86, I believe it has now gone into transport mode, heater fan, aircon and rear window demister buttons are not working.
I’m based in Barry South Wales and willing to travel, any help would be greatly appreciated. I’d happily buy the software and do the job myself but not having a laptop running windows has set me back. Many Thanks

[ref]TobiasE86[/ref], you are in luck.
