Tractor and Z4C...

Well after fixing and cleaning this 1967 Fordson Super major most of the day...I gave the Z4C a wipe over and went for a blast over the Derbyshire dales. The light was fading but took a couple of I phone snaps..

Nice tractor, we have a ford 4000 and a super dextor but not in that condition!!!!

Great looking z with csl's

Cheers chaps...

The Major had a paint and refurb about 5 years ago.. its in tidy order, not concourse but its done a few shows..

Looking for a Ford 5000 with a decent cab to do up..

I used to really love tractors, used to be able to name all of them... Gave up the following a while ago... Anyways I was walking by the fields the other day with my friend naming the tractors i could remember as we went along. That was until we came across a pub with smoke billowing from the doors!! I quickly rushed over and stood in the doorway, taking deep breaths... 'What are you doing my mate asked??'.

'I'm ex-tractor fan'

And I am truly sorry for that joke... I do actually love tractors though... Lol

Oh did you hear about the magic tractor? It went down the road and turned into a field...

(Sorry again!)

Lovely Tractor and Lovely Coupe!!

:tumbleweed: I think I will allocate this smiley to myself...

Great pics. Do you use the major for anything or just enjoyment? I live and work on the family farm and like my tractors! Don't have any blue ones though!

Love the zed, did I read that you had a m roadster first? What's the story behind it? I'm looking for a zed and slowly leaning towards an //M roadster. Would be keen to hear about your experience particularly what you chose and what ££ I should be aiming to get one for. Thanks. Liam.

Hi Liam....

Major is used for for light work.. Its being sold now, thats why it was being cleaned, greased and a few cosmetic touches were being done. There is another Major,Ford 5000 and a grey Ferguson around the other side of the barn.

The Z4M R against the Z4C debate....

Its an old and well documented argument..... If you would like my take on on it then it all depends what you want out of your motoring.

The Z4MR is an absolute weapon, its hard to think of a car what will give you a better buzz when the sun is out and the S54 is singing away. Downsides are running costs..Fuel,insurance,maintenance and tax are all a bit of a bite out of you..Also,and it pains me a little to say it,it does look like a normal Z4 to everyone but the initiated...Just not special enough..
I got a good offer for mine,so i sold it...I wasnt really looking to get back into Z ownership but a lovely coupe popped up...lol..

The Z4C is different again... Suprisingly frugal and cheap to run, mine gets comments and admiring looks wherever it goes.. Downsides for me are its not really quick enough.....thats it..

If budget allows i would buy a Z4MC.....It has enough kudos factor to be different, but also has enough speed to carry off the looks. Whether the running costs would get on my/your nerves after a while would have to be seen.. The sub 20mpg,£500 a year to tax certainly puts a blight on ownership.. Oh,insurance was £475 for me and missus on the M,this years renewal on the coupe is £223...

For me.....On a lovely day the Z4MR wins hands down on the coupe, its just a superb feeling when all the factors align, its what buying a fast roadster is all about.

But for the rest of the year,a Z4MC would be my choice........Until the running costs got on my wick...Then we would end up with the compromise which is the Z4C 3.0si....lol..

Im currently thinking of selling my coupe and buy a Z4MC,there are a few around that are nice.. Imola with champagne is my pick of the bunch...

Oh..here is a couple of snaps of the old ferguson..

Looking good! Think you should fit them rear tractor wheels to the z4 and make it look like that one from America on 22s haha

Thanks for that reply particularly the fergy pics! We're the blue bits on it originally or mods you made?

When asking I didn't mean to open a can of worms on simply looking at your zed pictures I'd assumed you'd gone mr to mc! But value your experience and comments I see you are now looking to move back to a m? I was quite set on a early 3.0 but as my search has gone on I'm now leaning towards an M as whichever I get I won't be putting huge miles on it but the tax and insurance excess over standard would add up so keeping an open mind and seeing what pops up. Definitely keen for a roadster for those moments where everything aligns like you mentioned! Liam.

Good man..

Yea,thinking of going to M coupe, but will see if the coupe sells...

The blue bits on the fergie are where the bonnet height has been extended for the diesel engine..
