Traction Control Lights Staying on

Hey guys,

Part of my commute involves leaving a junction very fast (joining a fast road, bad visibility left & right, z4 bonnet is huge). Traction very often kicks in.

I did this on Thursday, harder/faster than usual, as the roads were dry, and I wanted to :D

30 seconds later, the following two lights came on (yellow) and they WON'T go off. This is not the usual brief lighting up from spirted driving, this is permanantly on (sometimes stays off for the first 1 minute when I start the engine, then back on). It's not the DTS button on the dash by the hood buttons either, tried that.

Checked the ECU codes using Torque... nothing.

Pretty sure the traction control IS off too, based on massive powerslide I did on Friday afternoon...

Did some searching here, and found some talk of a £230 sensor... anyone actually had this work done? Any other resets I can try?

I find Torque rubbish at reading codes, in that it actually doesn't. I bought a C110 reader which reads codes fine.

I had the same lights come up and turned out to be the DSC pressure sensors which I had replaced by a specialist who is a member on here. However in your case and given the scenario, perhaps it could just be a wheel speed sensor didn't like the wheel spin. Maybe disconnect battery and reconnect if the lights don't go off after using the car a few times.
 
Wilbo, thanks - forgotten about the old battery disconnect trick - will do that right now.

I've also been wondering about Torque's effectiveness with ECU codes.. Guess I'll get the laptop and cable out instead.

What sort of cost was your DSC pressure sensor?
