I think we shouldn't lose sight of the fact that when you go visiting many other forums the proportion of friendliness is almost always lower, and in quite a few cases significantly so. Or else they are wastelands of unanswered appeals for knowledge and help.

Too true

I find 99.9% of the time it's very friendly but there are a few who seem to try to stir trouble or take offence if someone or more than one person doesn't share their view. That's only natural that we won't always agree but we should be able to see the others point of view and respect that. I'd hate to meet said people on real life, I hope it's just the fact they can hide behind a keyboard and screen that they feel that they can be as rude and aggressive as they are.

Seems your best just to take a step back and left these people rant on. Don't rise to it and they'll soon get bored.

Of course, the only other forum which has been as 'friendly' was the civic forum but it had its moments. It was moderated a lot more strictly than here and people found themselves on a ban for getting into an argument. Kind of ruined the whole experience over all.

I've heard some right horror stories of some forums. I'll stick here for now

its comes and goes, the westfield forum is a pretty friendly place too.

i think problems arise when people have very differing opinion, debates hot up real quick as comments can be taken the wrong way easily. People often write in a similar manner that they would say it but what you don't get is the tone/facial expression etc. person to person a sarky comment said with a cheeky face would go down fine but when typed and read by someone elce where you dont see the face comes across as you being a twat. especailly if they are a bit close to the bone.

take the comment in the marmaite thread about the donations. if you saw the pic of the rough white paint and said "oh i see those donations were a waste of money" what would you mean? the tone is important there. said angrily you criticising said with a cheeky grin and a bit of a sarcastic tone your just making a joke.... (esp if you actually gave money)

this is a genuine question, and not being antagonistic; but if this rule is clearly stated in the buying and selling thread, does it not refer to 2nd hand cars on the forum?

Items must not be sold for more than the original price paid by the seller including any post and packing charges.
