Since I bought my car the passenger seat has to be buckled up to prevent the annoying seatbelt reminder chime. I thought it was due to the occupancy sensor malfunctioning but perhaps not.......
I switched seats for z4m sports seats but didn't change the occupancy sensors ( prefacelift car / post facelift seats) cos they appeared to connect quite nicely to the cars wiring system. My car is one of the strange inbetween period builds.....
Anyway I had to switch pretensioners from my se seats to the z4m ones and yet I still have to have the seatbelt fastened to prevent the chimes. Deduction - there's a possibility the pretensioner is faulty as the chiming persists and the wiring has been carried over. I just bought another off eBay to try and see if that rid the problem....
Does this make sense so far?
To add to this I expected the airbag warning light to come on the dash with the seat swap ( although I did disconnect the battery during the swap) . This did NOT happen. I was really happy but I looked in the manual a few days ago and it confirms there could still be an airbag problem if the warning light DOESN'T come on. Turning on the ignition the warning light doesn't come on!
Any comments about the above? could this be an indication of the airbag being deployed and not replaced? I don't want to take it to the dealer if I can avoid it. I do expect though that ill prob have to plug into a diagnosis unit. Don't wanna take the dash trim or door skin off either to see if the airbag is still there! Cheers.
